About the role

We at the Geodata Unit in Örebro Municipality are facing an exciting development phase where geodata has been identified as a strategic resource for the entire municipality. Therefore, we need to temporarily strengthen our team in the autumn with an independent surveying engineer. In your role as a Surveying Engineer, your task will be to ensure an up-to-date and reliable base map for Örebro Municipality. The work will take place both independently in the field and on-site in our offices, in close dialogue with colleagues at the Geodata Unit. You will be based in our offices in Citypassagen, centrally located in Örebro.

Examples of tasks:

  • Maintenance of the municipality's base map
  • Field surveying of buildings and objects currently missing from the map data
  • Processing and quality assurance of surveyed data
  • Documentation and reporting according to the unit's routines

About the workplace

The Geodata Unit is part of the Planning Department at the Environment and Urban Planning Administration and is located at Citypassagen in central Örebro. We work as a support for the entire municipal group within GIS and geodata. The unit currently consists of 15 employees and a unit manager. On the unit, there is a SURVEY team consisting of 5 surveying engineers. With the main task of maintaining the municipality's base map, quality-assuring the base map in connection with detailed planning assignments, helping municipal companies maintain their geodata, house placements, and surveying new construction maps.

In addition to Surveying Engineers, there are also GIS Engineers, GIS Developers, BIM Developers, 3D Developers, and a Geostrategist.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are meticulous in your work and place great importance on always delivering good quality. You need to be independent in your working method, where you are good at finding solutions and reaching your own decisions in your processes. Good collaboration skills are also required as you will interact with many different people in the role, and you have good communication skills to convey your opinions smoothly. The role also requires that you can structure your own work to move forward efficiently in your processes.

We place great importance on personal suitability.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education as a surveying engineer (university or university college) or other education/experience that the employer deems relevant
  • Previous experience with measuring instruments and software from Leica
  • Experience with the software MyCarta
  • Category B driver's license

Merits:

  • Experience in planning and conducting field surveys
  • Good knowledge of geodata flows and map production
