Do you want to make a real impact and create a difference? Here you contribute to creating security for people and societies. What you do matters.
Your Role
As an Analysis Engineer at Saab Dynamics, you will work with a large number of advanced products that are at the forefront of technology and, in most cases, world-leading in their segments.
Internal ballistics is a complex subject area that requires knowledge in several disciplines such as physics, thermodynamics, and mechanics. The role involves largely investigating these internal ballistic processes both theoretically and through practical test setups. You are encouraged to be driven by the desire to solve problems and map out which factors influence a specific process.
The role is not a classic calculation position where you are only expected to work with a certain type of calculations; rather, it is a creative role where you, as an engineer, get the opportunity to design both the construction itself through predictive calculations and to design test setups and perform analysis of test results. The work will partly involve working in larger development projects but also conducting studies that border on research in internal ballistics, as well as participating in specific investigations when needed. The internal ballistics engineer is often involved throughout the entire development process, from requirements analysis via design selection to verification of the final product.
You often collaborate with many other engineers in the development unit in a project format. The projects you will participate in vary in size; we drive large projects that require teamwork and smaller projects that require independence.
As an Analysis Engineer in internal ballistics and rocket motor technology, you will largely be involved in the development work regarding our products within the business areas Ground Combat and Missiles. From Ground Combat, you will find systems such as NLAW, Carl Gustaf, and AT4, and from Missiles, systems such as RBS 15 and RBS 70.
Your primary responsibilities as a calculation engineer consist of designing, modeling, and analyzing the propulsion process that occurs during firing and the projectile's flight to the target with regard to:
- Firing process and propellant charge
- Force equilibrium during firing
- Rocket motor technology
- Analyses involving fluid mechanics and thermodynamics
- Test setup and test evaluation during shooting tests
- Sound pressure
Your Profile
We are looking for you who are solution-oriented and have an easy time communicating and collaborating. We believe you are a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Technical Physics with a focus on calculation, or have an education/experience assessed as equivalent or higher. You have good communication skills in Swedish and English, both oral and written.
The expectations for you as a new Analysis Engineer with us are that you have sufficient background in technology, physics, and mathematics to understand and absorb our specific problem statements. However, we do not expect you to have specific knowledge in internal ballistics before you join us; this knowledge will be acquired over a number of years by working in our team.
Desired Prerequisites
- Matlab
- Ansys (CFX, Fluent)
Meritorious Skills
- Image processing
- Experimental design
- Programming
- Previous industry experience
The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to the currently valid regulations for security clearance. For positions where Saab has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for certain citizenship.
Please note that we work with continuous selection and the position may be filled before the final application deadline has passed.
What You Become Part Of
Discover endless possibilities. Take on challenges, create smart innovations, and upgrade your skills. This is a place for clever thinkers, brave pioneers, and everyone in between. Together we achieve the extraordinary, each bringing their unique perspective. Every contribution counts.
