Uppsala Municipality leads the work on urban development. We work with a wide variety of projects and contribute to the development of new city districts, station areas, fast cycle routes, parks, squares, and public services. The Urban Development Administration consists of approximately 600 employees who work in cross-boundary processes. You will belong to the Planning and Contract Planning unit and collaborate with colleagues throughout the administration. The work also involves collaboration outside the organization, for example with Region Uppsala and Uppsala Vatten.

Description of Duties

In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute your expertise and ideas to drive the business forward to achieve the best public benefit. The assignments you work on primarily concern the renovation and new construction of public facilities in the municipality, such as streets and utilities, squares, parks, and outdoor areas.

As a Cost Estimator, you work on preparing cost estimates and assessments for earthworks and infrastructure projects, as well as following up on estimates during planning and production. You make early cost assessments for projects in the idea stage when few materials are available, for example, prior to setting goals and budgets. Therefore, we place great importance on your ability to adapt methodology and working methods based on each assignment, as well as defining relevant cost estimation prerequisites in collaboration with other competencies.

You produce preliminary prices based on previous materials and experience and work with everything from rough cost assessments to detailed estimates. When materials are suitable for this, we estimate using BidCon. In addition to digital tools, you will have a large network of colleagues to assist you in your job.

You are part of a collegium together with our contracting engineers, and you can assist with tasks related to production planning, occupational health and safety plans, etc., as needed. In your role, you also work closely with our designers, site managers, planners, and project managers. In addition to your role as a Cost Estimator, you will contribute to developing our work processes, for example in mass handling and climate work, based on your strengths and competencies.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have several years of documented experience in the role of Cost Estimator within earthworks, infrastructure, and/or civil engineering, or a corresponding role. You have education that the employer considers relevant for the position or equivalent experience from the industry. Experience in working with climate cost estimates is a prerequisite for the position. We also see that you have previous experience from the infrastructure industry, preferably a role within production such as site manager or foreman.

In your role, you are self-reliant and take responsibility for your tasks. You structure your own working method and drive your processes forward. As a person, you adapt easily to changed circumstances. When prerequisites change, you can quickly adjust both your perspective and working method, and you see opportunities in change. You have good collaboration skills and work well with others. You are receptive, communicate clearly, and contribute to a good collaboration climate by handling disagreements and conflicts in a constructive manner.

You are also service-oriented and have a calm, attentive, and accommodating demeanor. You have a genuine interest in helping others and strive to deliver solutions that meet the needs of the business. Furthermore, you are structured and plan, organize, and prioritize your work in an efficient manner. You set clear timeframes and ensure they are met.
