Your Workplace
Imaging and Functional Diagnostics (BFD) in Värmland is a dynamic and technically advanced operation covering radiology, mammography, and clinical physiology. Radiology clinics are located in five towns in Värmland: Karlstad, Torsby, Arvika, Kristinehamn, and Säffle.
As a radiologist in Värmland, you will become part of a team consisting of 25 specialists/senior consultants and 15 residents in the county. The operation is jointly organized with an overarching manager, scheduler, and coordinator, creating good conditions for collaboration and knowledge exchange. In Torsby, there is one specialist and two residents, but the staff collaborate closely regardless of which location they work at.
At Torsby Hospital, the operations run 24/7, with both acute and elective examinations. The equipment in Torsby includes a CT scanner, MRI, fluoroscopy equipment (GML), skeletal lab, and ultrasound lab. There is close proximity between different departments and a strong team spirit between radiology, clinicians, and the emergency department.
In Torsby, you have the opportunity to combine stimulating work with a nature-oriented lifestyle. Beautiful forests, lakes, and mountains are within reach – perfect for you who appreciate outdoor life, tranquility, and community. Torsby offers good schools, affordable housing, and a strong local community with proximity to services and culture.
Torsby Hospital is known for its good cohesion and close collaboration between clinics, and your expertise makes a real difference for the patients.
Your Responsibilities
As a radiologist in Torsby, you will work broadly within general radiology, including image review and examinations in conventional radiography, computed tomography (CT), and ultrasound.
The tasks vary and also include rounds, multidisciplinary conferences (MDC), further education, and supervision of residents and visiting colleagues. On-call duties in the evenings and on weekends are included in the position. In Värmland, there are three on-call lines for radiologists: primary on-call, backup on-call, and remote on-call, which allows for a flexible and sustainable on-call organization. External review takes place at night via Teleconsult, both on weekdays and weekends.
Your main placement is in Torsby, but work at other hospitals in the county is possible upon agreement. Opportunities for remote work exist to the extent that operations allow. We work in Sectra RIS/PACS and have county-wide shared worklists, creating a close collegial and flexible collaboration between radiologists throughout the region.
Your Knowledge and Competencies
We are looking for you who have a Swedish medical license and specialist competence in radiology. You should have good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written. Experience with conventional radiography, CT, and ultrasound, as well as basic competence in ultrasound intervention. Experience with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is meritorious.
We place great emphasis on personal qualities such as teamwork, engagement, and a positive, solution-oriented attitude. You have the ability to make decisions and know how to structure your tasks independently. Furthermore, you are well-updated in your field and can contribute your expertise to colleagues.
