Within the operational area of AnOpIVA Visby, emergency and planned surgical care, anesthesia, postoperative care, and intensive care are provided in close collaboration with other activities within Region Gotland. The activity has broad clinical scope and covers patients of all ages. Approximately 5,500 surgeries are performed annually in general surgery, orthopedics, urology, gynecology, obstetrics, and ENT, as well as approximately 1,500 consultative procedures. Approximately 3,100 patients are treated annually on the intensive care unit, and we have a busy outpatient clinic where simpler procedures are performed.
Due to the island location, the work on the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is multifaceted. Severely ill patients with serious conditions are treated on the ICU. We staff five beds where our patients have an increased need for medical care, monitoring, and nursing; therefore, the staff density on an ICU is higher than on a regular ward. On weekends and nights, the ICU also has a postoperative function. We respond to various emergency alarms and are responsible for the hospital's Medical Emergency Team (MET) duties.
Our employees within the activity are very engaged, and our small size means you will quickly build a network and relationships, which contributes to the good atmosphere within AnOpIVA.
As a qualified nurse, you are offered a full-time position as an Intermediate Care Nurse, combined with an educational appointment at the Intensive Care Unit. After completing the education, you will be employed in a permanent full-time rotational position as an Intensive Care Nurse at the ICU, Visby Hospital.
Your responsibilities
As an Intermediate Care Nurse, you are responsible for the nursing care of patients who require closer monitoring and advanced treatment than what is provided on a regular ward.
An educational appointment means full-time studies for the Specialist Nurse education with a focus on intensive care at a university or college.
During term times, you will receive study pay. Between terms, you will work on the Intensive Care Unit as an Intermediate Care Nurse, which includes the summer period of June-August.
You will be included in the activity in various ways throughout the year because we want you to feel like part of the team.
Do not forget to apply for the education
Note that applying for an educational position does not mean that an application has been made to any education. It also does not guarantee a place in the education. Applications and admissions to specialist education are made via http://www.antagning.se (http://www.antagning.se).
