We are looking for a Special Education Teacher in Swedish with a focus on reading and writing development at Älandsbro School – is that you?

Located in a beautiful environment with nature as a neighbor, Älandsbro School is home to approximately 160 students, ranging from preschool class to grade 6. The school has an after-school center with two departments. The school grounds also feature a sports hall, football and ice hockey fields, a school garden, and a wooded area with a barbecue spot.

About the position

We are seeking an engaged and competent Special Education Teacher in Swedish, specializing in reading and writing development. The position is full-time and based at Älandsbro School. In this role, you will become an integral part of our Student Health Teams (SHT) and have the opportunity to make a real difference in students' learning and development.

Responsibilities

As a Special Education Teacher, you will assess and investigate students in need of special support, as well as conduct reading and writing assessments. You will work closely with teachers to implement early interventions and are responsible for ongoing documentation in PMO (Individual Educational Plans). The role also involves leading Student Health Team meetings and following up on and analyzing results from screenings, primarily in Swedish.

A key part of the job is supporting pedagogical staff in their teaching. This may involve developing study strategies, working with language-developing methods, using alternative and digital tools, and contributing knowledge regarding low-affective responses and support for students with neurodevelopmental disorders (NPF). You will also plan and assess needs, implement measures, and design action plans. Support measures are provided individually, in groups, and directly in the classroom.

As part of the Student Health Team, you will coordinate the special pedagogical work at the school together with our Special Education Teacher specializing in mathematics. You are responsible for documenting the ongoing work, both strategically and at the class or student level. Student health work also includes communicating with students, guardians, colleagues, and external actors to build trusting relationships and promote students' learning development.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has a Special Education Teacher degree for primary school with a focus on Swedish and reading/writing development.
  • Has experience working with children and young people with various support needs, including NPF and problematic school absenteeism.
  • Is familiar with using digital tools in teaching and has the didactic and pedagogical ability to lead and organize work to create a good learning environment.
  • Has a valid B-class driver's license.

Merits

Previous experience in the profession is a plus, as is being well-versed in the goals and regulatory documents of the curriculum and being up-to-date with current research. Knowledge of extra adaptations and special support according to regulatory documents is also valued. Do you also have experience leading work groups? We see this as a significant advantage!

Scope

The position is a permanent employment at 100%. Start date: August 11, 2026, or as agreed. A clean police certificate is required to work with us.
