to apply for the job

Geneskolan is Örnsköldsvik Municipality's largest middle school, with approximately 400 students distributed across 16 classes. At Geneskolan, we believe school should be about learning, which is why we prioritize our core mission: teaching and providing our students with a high-quality education.

For those new to the profession, Örnsköldsvik Municipality offers an induction program for new teachers. This means you will be assigned a mentor during your first year. Your mentor is an experienced teacher with the same or a closely related subject qualification, ready to guide and support you.

Responsibilities

You will teach Swedish and English in grades 7–9 and handle the associated documentation and communication. The role involves planning, implementing, and following up on teaching. Contact and collaboration with guardians are important parts of the job. Teaching Swedish as a Second Language may also become relevant, depending on your experience and competence. You will be part of a work team, and class mentoring may be included in the position.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a teaching degree and subject qualification in Swedish and English. Other subject combinations may also be considered, so do not hesitate to apply even if you do not have qualifications in all requested subjects. If you have qualifications in or experience teaching Swedish as a Second Language, it is an advantage.

We expect you to have strong subject knowledge in your teaching areas. As a person, you are perceptive, responsible, and engaged. You are a secure adult and a clear leader, expected to be a teacher who leads and manages the classroom. Outside the classroom, you maintain clear adult boundaries and see it as natural to take on that responsibility.

Please attach a CV and a cover letter to your application.

In the event of employment, a valid extract from the Police Register of Offenses must be presented to the employer.

In the event of employment, identity will be verified (Swedish driver's license/passport).

At the Education Administration, we work to create good conditions for every child's and student's learning, development, and creativity. We aim to create a safe and inspiring learning environment where the joy of learning is at the forefront, and where children, students, and staff meet each other with respect.

During the interview process, we will conduct an identity check and verify citizenship. Accepted documents include a passport, international ID card, driver's license plus a personal registration certificate from the Swedish Tax Agency, or other ID documents that strengthen proof of citizenship. For some positions, a extract from the Police Register of Suspicion and Offenses is required. We welcome proficiency in Finnish and/or any of the Sami varieties, as Örnsköldsvik Municipality is part of both the Finnish and Sami administrative areas.

In our municipality, a number of positions are classified for security reasons, so a security clearance check may be conducted. These positions may require Swedish citizenship.
