Do you want to ensure that our most essential food item – drinking water – is good, healthy, and accessible to all our customers, together with us? Then the position of Operations Engineer with us might just be what you are looking for!
Part of something bigger
Västvatten is a company with great ambitions and lots of energy. We have just over 125 employees who ensure that the shared drinking water and sewage systems function in the best possible way in Färgelanda, Munkedal, Sotenäs, and Uddevalla. It is one of society's most important tasks, if you ask us.
Our Drinking Water Department currently consists of thirteen people with various tasks who work together to ensure that our facilities around our municipalities are operated in a safe and correct manner – so that our customers have good and healthy drinking water. We are now expanding our department with an Operations Engineer, which will be a new position for us. The staff are based at Marieberg Water Treatment Plant in Uddevalla Municipality and Dale Water Treatment Plant in Sotenäs Municipality, and as our new Operations Engineer, you will be based at Marieberg Water Treatment Plant.
Your mission
As an Operations Engineer, you play a crucial role in structurally developing and improving the operation and maintenance of our drinking water facilities. You need to understand the purification processes and how all facilities are controlled in the SCADA systems. The focus is on working for long-term operational security, where you work on planning maintenance and operational improvements, as well as effectively leading and maintaining a good team spirit for the operations technician group that performs the daily operation and maintenance. The personnel responsibility for the operations technicians remains with the head of the drinking water department.
We work without hierarchy, independently, and take our own initiatives – while supporting and helping each other when needed.
The tasks include, among other things:
- Operational leadership and coordination.
- Plan and ensure that preventive and corrective maintenance on our water treatment plants, reservoirs, pressure boosting stations, and other equipment is carried out.
- Work with and develop our SCADA systems.
- Work with the establishment and maintenance of systems for supervision, maintenance, spare parts, fault reporting, and documentation.
- Work with work permit management, creation of operating instructions, and status assessments.
- Lead and commission new and existing facilities.
- Perform analyses and investigations of operational disruptions and faults together with the process engineers.
- Work with risk assessments and follow-ups.
- Actively work for a good working environment.
Motivated, meticulous, and responsible
We are looking for you who have relevant education in the technical field and a few years of work experience. You have a great interest in technology and processes. Good computer skills are a requirement as the water and wastewater industry is quickly moving towards a more digital way of working.
As a person, you are curious, driven, and solution-oriented – you take responsibility and care about leaving good quality in the work you perform. To succeed and thrive in the role of Operations Engineer with us, you also need to be comfortable working alone and able to make your own decisions within the framework of the Operations Engineer position. You plan your work in a structured way and report on carried-out measures.
We place great importance on personal suitability.
