About the Department

We are a specialized eating disorders department for children and adolescents up to the age of 25. We have a total of 8 beds. Part of the department cares for children and families and is now co-located in new premises with the adolescent unit.

During the treatment period, which is approximately 12 or 8 weeks respectively, patients with severe eating disorders are offered treatment according to a structured care program. The department is part of a care chain that includes specialized outpatient and day care. The care work on the department is carried out in teams. The team includes doctors, nurses, care assistants, counselors, family therapists, and psychologists. We also collaborate with dietitians, chefs, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and music therapists.

The department has the mandate for National Highly Specialized Care (NHV) for difficult-to-treat eating disorders. Intensive development work is ongoing at the unit. As part of this, there is an enhancement of competence levels through joint educational initiatives.

We have exciting times ahead and are now welcoming three nurses to our expanding team.

What do we offer?

We see further education as a crucial cornerstone for development and evidence-based care. We offer training in various parts of the eating disorder and psychiatry fields. We are currently implementing Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) in the environment on the department. The department has regular group supervision.

Our goal is to create a well-functioning care system that best meets the patient's needs and conditions. In this work, healthcare staff and the rest of the team play an active role.

Research and method development are conducted within the operations.

Job Responsibilities

The patient group often has comorbid somatic and psychiatric conditions, both acute and long-term. You will use and develop your competence in both nursing and patient interaction.

The work includes standard duties for a nurse. You will work according to the department's care program using motivational and supportive conversations, anxiety management support, educational meal support, as well as other medical and psychiatric tasks. The focus is on working towards set goals together with the patient and relatives based on an individual care plan.

As a nurse, together with your colleagues, you are responsible for the team's patients and keep the patient in focus from a holistic perspective. Your role includes supervisory tasks.

About You

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. If you are specialist-trained in psychiatry or have previous experience in child and adolescent psychiatry, it is an advantage.

We are looking for you who want to work with children and young adults. You enjoy working with supportive conversations and have an interest in both psychiatry and somatics. You will, to some extent, work with children and families under the age of 16, knowing that the patient and relatives are always in focus. Experience with structured conversations is a plus.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Interviews are conducted continuously during the application period.

In the event of recruiting nurses/doctors with foreign licenses/specialist certificates, the current position will be preceded by a process to meet the requirements for Swedish license/specialist certificate.

If you are a newly graduated nurse, you will participate in the Clinical Base Year, which is our introduction program. The Clinical Base Year is mandatory and lasts during the first year of your employment with us. The Clinical Base Year includes lectures, nursing supervision, and practical training of your profession at the Simulator Center. In addition, it includes working on at least two different departments to broaden your competence.
