About the position

As a school nurse at Mellringeskolan, you work with health-promoting and preventive care and are responsible for assessing students' needs for additional health interventions, which includes health visits, open reception, and administering vaccinations. In your role as a school nurse, you work together with the school's student health team to support students in achieving their school goals. In the student health team, you contribute medical and public health expertise to student health work. The student health team consists of a counselor, special educator, special needs teacher, school psychologist, school nurse, school doctor, and school management. The student health team works together with the school's other staff to ensure a good psychosocial work environment for the students and to support the students' development towards educational goals. There is another school nurse at the school with whom you will have close collaboration. You will also be part of a network of school nurses from Örebro Municipality where you will receive collegial support and ongoing competence development.

Examples of tasks:

• Responsible for documentation in Prorenata according to the Health and Medical Services Act and the Patient Act.
• Responsible for offering and administering vaccinations according to the national vaccination program and being able to take action in case of vaccination side effects.
• Knowledge of and compliance with the organization's current laws, policies, and routines.
• Initiate and participate in development and quality work within the area of operations.

About the workplace

Mellringeskolan is a grades F-9 school in western Örebro with approximately 500 students. Mellringeskolan also has a resource school F-9 where 36 students attend. The students primarily come from the western districts of Örebro. The staff is divided into work groups organized around common classes. The work group is the hub for both goal achievement work and student health. In addition to school management and administration, a student health group supports the teacher work groups.

Qualifications

As a school nurse with us, you are expected to work independently, which presupposes that you are confident and engaged in your role. As a person, you are communicative and have an easy time listening and adapting your way of communicating based on the receiver. Furthermore, you have an easy time making contact and inspiring trust. You have good collaboration skills and relate to others in a listening and smooth manner. Furthermore, you are good at structuring, prioritizing, and taking overall responsibility for your work. It is important that you adapt easily to changed circumstances and see opportunities in changes. Furthermore, you master the Swedish language in a way that allows you to communicate with students, relatives, and other staff, and can document in writing what the operation requires. Since the work involves digital documentation, good computer skills are also required.

Requirements:

• Registered nurse with specialist education as a school nurse, district nurse, or pediatric nurse.

Merits:

• Experience working as a school nurse.

• Competence in NPD (Neurodevelopmental disorders).
• Experience working with students with special needs.
• ICDP or equivalent experience.
