Combat Boat Mechanic for 5th Amphibious Battalion, Gothenburg

At the Älvsborg Amphibious Regiment in Gothenburg, we operate where land meets sea, serving as a vital link between the Army and the Navy. As a re-established regiment with garrison responsibilities, we are growing and now seeking more competent combat boat mechanics to continue developing the unit for its crucial mission: defending Sweden's numerous coastal archipelago areas and protecting our waterways leading to Scandinavia's largest port, thereby safeguarding Sweden's strategically important flows.

The 5th Amphibious Battalion is currently undergoing growth and development. We need more competent combat boat mechanics to help advance the unit.

Who are we?

  • The Amphibious Battalion in Gothenburg is a highly mobile unit with fast-moving combat boats. The battalion's main task is combat in archipelago and coastal areas.
  • We are a development unit with significant growth in personnel, equipment, and capabilities, offering excellent opportunities for a challenging soldier role across several specializations.

Currently, the battalion is organized into three companies: 504. Amphibious Infantry Company with rifle combat supported by mortars, 505. Maintenance Company with logistics and medical platoons, and 502. Amphibious Company which conducts sea target combat with missile and mine units, where the battalion's command and communication capabilities are centralized.

What are we looking for?

The 5th Amphibious Battalion is now seeking competent combat boat mechanics to enhance the battalion's capabilities. In your daily work, you will collaborate closely with your company's technical officer while being employed by one of the platoons.

The position covers ranks OR1-5.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Completed and approved conscription service as a combat boat mechanic.
  • Upper secondary education with passing grades.
  • Swimming proficiency: 400 meters.
  • Lifeguarding skills: 25 meters swimming, 3-meter dive, 25 meters towing a dummy.
  • Physical fitness level corresponding to FM FysS 3.

Many of the battalion's tasks are highly demanding, which places special requirements on our soldiers both physically and mentally. You are stress-resistant, self-reliant, flexible, and always do your best to complete the task at hand. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Merits

  • Class B driver's license.

Other Information

Employment Type: Full-time GSS/K-service with a fixed-term employment contract of 6 years, including a 6-month probation period for new hires. Individual salary setting applies according to agreement.

Work Location: Västra Frölunda, Gothenburg.

Travel and evening/weekend duty may occur.

Start Date: Week 31

After the selection process, you may be called to a test day. This will take place at the Gothenburg Garrison in June. You will be invited to tests after the initial selection. During the test day, your suitability will be assessed, while physical tests and interviews are conducted.
