Support Assistant in Daily Activities – Skövde Municipality

Daily activities provide employment for people with disabilities. In Skövde Municipality, we have several different daily activity groups. We have over 300 participants and around 90 employees. The activity is part of the Health and Care Sector, Skövde Municipality.

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for you who want a rewarding and developing job. In the role of support assistant in daily activities, you contribute to our participants having meaningful employment. Based on individual needs, you support and guide people with disabilities in their daily activities. You plan the work, provide support, and ensure that participants feel secure. You also support participants in their social interactions.

You work to ensure that our participants can achieve the highest possible quality of life in their daily lives. Based on individual needs and wishes, you support our participants in the daily, close-to-life work in their activities. With us, the participant is in focus, and the role involves being a practical and everyday support. In a pedagogical way, you stimulate and motivate the individual to participation and an independent life.

The job responsibilities also include helping with the distribution of medication, handling physical and digital aids, and performing delegated and prescribed healthcare interventions, according to the Health and Medical Services Act (HSL).

Your knowledge and experience are valuable, so part of your role is to contribute to the development of our common ways of working.

Resource Center

Resource Center is one of our larger groups. In the work group, pedagogical activities are offered with a focus on music, movement, creativity, and sensory stimulation in groups and individually. The participants at Resource Center have a high support need, and as staff, one needs to be confident and have experience in care-related work. Several participants bring their personal assistants during the day.

Service

A smaller work group where a support assistant and a support educator work with a smaller number of participants. This group has assignments both outdoors and indoors, where tasks include shredding paper, delivering orders from the warehouse, and picking up litter.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with a high school education and approved grades from the Care and Assistance program or the Child and Youth program, or other equivalent education. It is positive if you have knowledge of conversation methods such as social stories or drawing and talking. Experience with clarifying pedagogy, low-affective handling, and alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) is desirable.

As a person, you are calm and confident and have a respectful, good, and adapted approach. To succeed in the role, we see that you have good cooperation skills, are solution-focused, and adapt easily to new conditions. To thrive in the role, we believe you have the ability to take personal responsibility in your professional role, are proactive, and are used to working independently.

In this role, it is important that you can communicate orally and in writing in Swedish because you and the participant need to understand each other, but also to be able to perform documentation. You are computer literate and preferably have experience with social documentation.

We see that you are a person who has a good ability to work independently and drive processes forward. You cooperate well with colleagues in different functions in your vicinity. You thrive best in close work with participants, while being confident with administrative tasks.

Great importance is attached to personal suitability. A Category B driver's license for a manually shifted car is a requirement as travel occurs in the work.
