The operations of the Culture and Education Administration include upper secondary school, adapted upper secondary school, adult education, youth clubs, arts school, culture houses, libraries, museums, art halls, tourism, event operations, facilities, Nolhaga Ice Hall, Nolhaga Farm, Nolhaga Park Bath, and support for associations. Alströmergymnasiet in Alingsås Municipality is an upper secondary school with approximately 1,250 students distributed across 11 national programs, adapted upper secondary school, and introductory programs, which also include language classes for newly arrived students. The educational activities are divided into seven sectors, each led by a principal, and together we have just over 220 employees.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The role of school counselor involves contributing to students reaching their knowledge goals and working preventively and health-promoting to support students' health and learning. You do this in close collaboration with the student health team, principals, and other staff. The overarching goal of the school counselor's work is to contribute to increased security, study peace, and well-being among students.

As a school counselor at Alströmergymnasiet, you are part of two sector's Student Health Team (EHT) led by the respective principal. The school-wide psychosocial student health includes, in addition to you, two counselors, three school nurses, and a school psychologist. We are a team characterized by flat hierarchy collaboration and a supportive approach towards each other.

You contribute with interventions within social and psychosocial work at both individual, group, and organizational levels. Your duties include, for example, support conversations, supervision, and consultation for individual educators and work teams. You collaborate with external authorities and actors, such as social services, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (BUP), and Upper Secondary School Health Service (UPH). As a counselor, you contribute to ensuring that students who need support in their social and emotional development receive adequate interventions within the school.

Through targeted preventive and health-promoting school development work, you help create a secure, welcoming, and inclusive study environment free from abusive treatment, discrimination, and harassment. As a counselor with us, you also have a central role in driving and developing the school's systematic work with the KB (Knowledge and Development) process.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements for the position:

• A degree in Social Work (Socionom) and documented professional experience as a social worker with a focus on schools or social work with young adults.

Meritorious:

• Experience in group and individual supervision, as well as broad knowledge of working methods within social work.
• Knowledge of the legislation regulating school operations, including the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act.

You have a good understanding of the development and living conditions of young adults. To succeed and thrive with us, it is important that you are comfortable leading shorter lectures and similar interventions both in the classroom and in front of work teams, and that you have the ability to see and address students' different needs based on their individual prerequisites.
