School Librarian at 40% – International English School (IES) Lund

International English School (IES) Lund is a school for grades 4–9 with approximately 700 students and 80 employees. It is a school where teachers can focus on teaching, students are given the opportunity to learn, and everyone enjoys coming to school every day. The school has an international orientation, and instruction is conducted in both English and Swedish. We strive to place learning and knowledge first. Students learn to take personal responsibility for their own development and working environment, as well as to respect their classmates, teachers, and themselves.

About the Position

IES Lund is now seeking a School Librarian who wishes to work with the pedagogical mission in focus. The position is a part-time employment (40%) for the academic year 2026/2027, with the possibility of a permanent full-time position from August 2027. This primarily involves work with reading and reading promotion, language development, and media and information literacy.

The role also involves persistently and systematically, in line with research and the school's governing documents, shifting the view of the school library from being merely a physical place to becoming the concern of the entire school – a tool in the systematic quality work to increase student goal achievement.

About You

As a person, you are driven and development-oriented. You are outgoing and can meet both students and colleagues in a solution-oriented and positive manner. You are very confident in interactions with students of all ages and enjoy teaching groups or classes independently. To succeed in your role, you need to be able to take initiative and, depending on needs and situations, work independently or together with others. We place great emphasis on personal suitability in this recruitment, as it is important to us that you fit into our team.

Who are you?

  • You are studying or have a degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working as a school librarian in primary/secondary school is meritorious.
  • You have good knowledge of literature and information retrieval, as well as GDPR and privacy regarding the handling of user data.
  • You have an understanding of the school curriculum and how the library can support student learning.
  • You articulate yourself well in speech and writing in both Swedish and English, and have high digital competence.
  • You have good pedagogical skills and an understanding of how students absorb knowledge and their different prerequisites.
