Your role with us

We are looking for a school librarian who wants to develop our school library from the ground up, in collaboration with the principal and teachers. You have a degree in library and information science and a passionate interest in young people and their literature. Planning and leading book discussions for students, as well as other reading promotion projects, are part of the role, as is monitoring and purchasing literature. Initially, the work will involve some renovation of the library premises to increase well-being and improve conditions for learning.

Together with teaching teachers, you play an important role in students' reading, writing, and language development, as well as in developing their information competence. You are therefore an important support for educators regarding students' achievement of goals. Together with teachers, you integrate the school library as an important tool in teaching and participate in the school's pedagogical approach. The position also involves close collaboration with the school's administration, special education teachers, and other educators. In the municipality, there is a well-functioning collaboration with other school librarians, school library coordinators, and public libraries.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for you who have a degree in library and information science and have a passionate interest in children, young people, and their literature. Planning and leading book discussions and source criticism for students in grades 7–9 are part of the role. We would like you to have previously worked as a school librarian or have other experience working with children and young people aged 13–16.

As a librarian, you need to have good IT skills. Knowledge of website production is an advantage. You have an interest in pedagogical work and collaborating with educators based on your competence, as well as developing our library plan in consultation with students and other staff. We are looking for you who take initiative, work independently, and have very good collaboration skills. You are flexible, development-oriented, and open to change.

To allow us to assess your application, you must attach your degree certificate. When we wish to offer you the position, you are required to show an extract from the police record of convictions so that we can employ you, according to regulations in Chapter 2, Sections 31–33 of the Education Act.
