About the role – Shape your own position

This is a unique opportunity for you who want significant influence over your daily work life! The position is 40–60% (with possibilities for expansion), and we offer great flexibility where you get to help shape the content and structure of the role yourself. Our school library is small in size, but we have a generous approach to resources – you will essentially have free rein to purchase the media, books, and digital tools you deem necessary to create a modern and stimulating environment for the students.

Your responsibilities

As a school librarian with us, you have a clear pedagogical assignment regulated by the Swedish Education Act. You work closely with the school's teachers to strengthen student learning and goal achievement.

Your main tasks include:

• Sparking a love for reading: Conducting inspiring book talks and reading-promoting activities in the classrooms, adapted to the students' age, needs, and prerequisites.
• Teaching Information and Media Literacy (IML) and source criticism: Going out into the classrooms to teach source criticism, information retrieval, and digital competence. You equip students for a digitized information landscape characterized by algorithms and AI-generated content.
• Pedagogical collaboration: Actively participating in the planning and implementation of thematic work and cross-curricular projects together with the teachers.
• Media and library development: Responsible for developing and adapting the media offering (both print and digital) so that it contributes to an equitable education for all our students.

We are looking for you who have an appropriate academic education in Library and Information Science.

To thrive in the role, we see that you are self-motivated, proactive, and creative, as you are expected to put your own stamp on the position. You have a strong pedagogical interest and good communication skills that make it easy for you to collaborate with educators and meet students at their level. About the workplace

Ögårdsskolan is a two-parallel F-6 school (preschool class to grade 6) with approx. 230 students. We are a small school with a strong focus on language development and a safe, calm, and family-like environment. Our students, the majority of whom have roots in cultures other than Swedish, are motivated and curious about their surroundings. Study visits, cultural events, and pedagogical excursions are important parts of our students' daily lives, all to ensure they receive as varied an education as possible. Our vision is for our school to be an attractive and successful school where students are given good prerequisites for further studies and working life. To succeed in this, we work with smaller class sizes and high adult presence. We have a maximum of 20 students in each class and at least one student assistant in each grade.

Ögårdsskolan is located adjacent to Malmö Mosque in Ögårdsparken at Jägersro. Our schoolyard, which is part of the park, is likely the largest and greenest schoolyard in the entire city of Malmö. The small forest areas and large green spaces are used frequently for educational purposes, as the school is a participant in Friluftsfrämjandet's "Forest Heroes" program.
