Description of duties

As a librarian in Åstorp, you will collaborate with driven and engaged teachers and librarians. Your work will focus on reading promotion initiatives and language development. Your duties include everything from media purchasing and book talks to supporting students who need compensatory measures in their reading development. You are also expected to contribute to ICT/Digital Media (MIK) work.

You will work as a school librarian at the municipality's two secondary schools, Björnekulla and Hyllinge. Hyllinge's school library is an integrated school and public library, so you will collaborate with the public library staff. At Björnekulla, you also have a library assistant as a colleague, and at Hyllinge, you collaborate with the school librarian working with grades F-6.

We work based on the adopted library plan 2025-2028, as well as the school library plan 2025-2028, where the function and pedagogical resource of school libraries have been strengthened through the distribution of responsibilities between the two main authorities.

You will, together with other school and public librarians and teachers in the school, develop and shape the operations. More general librarian tasks may occasionally fall to you, and we assume you master all the librarian's tools, methods, and competencies. The work at the libraries is based on systematic quality and development work, and we assume you see the importance of being involved in this. Work at the municipality's public library may occur, as well as weekend and evening work. Åstorp's library operations also include a book bus, which we primarily use to meet children and young people in the municipality.

Qualifications

You have solid knowledge in literature mediation and reading promotion; you are pedagogical and work with a clear student focus. Your own drive is great, but you collaborate willingly with others.

You convey your burning passion for children's and young adult literature and reading in an inspiring and joyful way. You are confident in the school librarian role and are open to the possibilities of digitalization in pedagogical work. In your work, you are positive and engaged, and you feel comfortable communicating both orally and in writing. Good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing is required, and other language skills are meritorious.

As a person, you see opportunities for change and create situations where new ideas and proposals can be developed. Collaborating with others comes naturally to you, and by creating understanding for others, you work for a respectful work climate. You have the ability to have a holistic perspective in your work and can place your own area of responsibility in a larger context. You should have good communicative skills and be responsible and solution-focused. At the same time, you need to be able to take initiative and independently develop and develop ideas for our entire area of operation. It is important that you have a good attitude, are flexible, and service-oriented.

We assume you have a degree in library and information science, or equivalent higher education that we assess as equivalent. Great importance will be attached to your personal qualities. We are primarily looking for you who have experience working in school libraries, preferably with secondary school students.

A category B driver's license is required, and access to a personal car facilitates your workday.

Åstorp Municipality applies individual and differentiated salary setting, taking into account the employee's experience, competence, and the current market situation. An annual salary review is conducted where employees are salaried based on our salary criteria: clarity, courage, responsiveness, engagement, and quality. In Åstorp Municipality, the employment is covered by the General Agreement (Allmänna Bestämmelser).
