Media and Democracy Unit, Ministry of Culture

Are you at the beginning of your career and looking to work in a qualified role within a stimulating, interesting, and dynamic environment at the center of events? Here, you will have varied and diverse tasks with opportunities for professional development.

Your working day. Sweden's tomorrow.

The unit's area of responsibility includes issues concerning commercial media, media support, public service, and new media services – both nationally and at the EU level. The area of responsibility also covers issues related to media and information literacy, elections, voter participation, and efforts to protect democratic dialogue against threats and hate.

In your role as a case officer within the unit, your duties will include both case handling and administrative and coordinating tasks. Part of your work will involve supporting and assisting your colleagues with various issues within the unit's area of responsibility. This includes, among other things, preparing background materials and draft decisions. You will also have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with and coordinate issues within the unit's or the ministry's area of responsibility. You will also have the chance to take individual responsibility and drive issues forward.

Another important part of your duties will be to provide administrative support to both the unit and other parts of the ministry. These tasks include case management, quality assurance, and other administrative duties, such as processing decisions, handling orders, and working in digital systems. The role also involves regularly assisting in the administrative coordination of the preparatory process at the ministry level.

The work will be carried out in close collaboration with colleagues within the unit, the ministry, and other parts of the Government Offices. Since the duties include administrative support, you will be part of the ministry's network for assistants. In your role, you will also have contact with agencies and other actors within the ministry's areas of responsibility.

Depending on the operational needs, it may also become relevant to work on issues within other areas for which the ministry is responsible.

Your Background

We are looking for you who have a relevant university or college education, preferably in social sciences, political science, law, or equivalent. Furthermore, you have current and relevant experience from work or internships within the public sector. You should also have very good skills in expressing yourself verbally and in writing, in both Swedish and English.

If you also have current experience of case handling or administrative work within the Government Offices or another state agency, and experience working on issues within subject areas relevant to the ministry, we consider this to be meritorious.

Your Attributes

The Government Offices' employee criteria are holistic view, development, and results. Everyone working at the Government Offices needs to have a holistic perspective and collaborate for the benefit of the operations. You are expected to contribute your perspective and competence and be open to others. You will bring ideas and new approaches to improve and develop the operations and your own competence. You are results-oriented in your actions and adapt when needs and directions change.

To be successful in your role as a case officer, you need to be able to work in a structured manner, be responsible, meticulous, and flexible. Working in a political environment also places high demands on very good judgment and high integrity. Great importance will be attached to your personal attributes.
