Our client is currently seeking an engaged and driven Site Safety Officer who wants to take a key role in creating a safe, structured, and sustainable working environment on site. In this role, you will have significant influence and the opportunity to work closely with both production and management in a complex and exciting project.

About the Position

As a Site Safety Officer, you are responsible for ensuring that all work on site is carried out safely and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and the project's safety requirements, with a particular focus on one or more Work Packages.

You report to the BAS-U Case Manager and work in close collaboration with the Work Package Owner, Construction Management function, site coordinators, and contractors. The role is both operational and strategic – perfect for you who want to combine presence on site with influence on overall safety work.

Your Main Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all occupational health and safety requirements within the assigned Work Package
• Conduct regular safety rounds, safety inspections, and audits
• Identify risks, conduct risk assessments, and drive preventive measures
• Develop, implement, and follow up on safety routines and working methods
• Lead safety training and toolbox talks for staff and contractors
• Follow up on safety outcomes, handle deviations, and initiate corrective actions
• Report incidents, near misses, and risks, and escalate critical issues when necessary
• Ensure correct and traceable documentation of safety work
• Contribute to continuous improvements and the development of the project's safety culture
• Collaborate with other safety roles for a cohesive and effective site safety strategy

Qualifications

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is confident in their competence, clear in their leadership, and genuinely engaged in occupational health and safety.

Experience

• At least 5–7 years of experience in occupational health and safety work on site
• Experience from infrastructure, construction, or civil engineering projects
• Documented experience in risk management and regulatory compliance

Competence & Knowledge

• Very good knowledge of Swedish occupational health legislation and industry practice
• Ability to conduct risk analyses, safety inspections, and audits
• Experience with safety systems, reporting tools, and follow-up procedures

• Proactive and driven in building a strong safety culture

Education

• Vocational Higher Education (YH) degree or Bachelor's degree in occupational health, construction, engineering, or equivalent
• Certifications in occupational health/safety are meritorious
• Extensive relevant experience can substitute formal education

Language

• Fluent Swedish and English, both spoken and written

• Willing to work extended hours if necessary to meet project requirements
