Who are we?

The main task of the Health and Care Department is to provide good healthcare and social care to the residents of Norrköping Municipality. The department's responsibilities include special housing, home care services, home nursing, the municipality's food service operations, as well as authority functions and preventive activities. With our approximately 3,000 employees, we are the municipality's second-largest department. Together, we create a meaningful and secure everyday life for everyone in need of our help.

We are now looking for relative support counselors with a focus on mental health who want to contribute alongside us!

The Relative and Knowledge Center works based on the Social Services Act to facilitate life for relatives who care for or support a close relative who is chronically ill, elderly, has disabilities, or other difficulties.

The unit currently consists of eight relative support counselors and two counselors who together have broad competence in areas such as mental health/psychiatry, addiction/substance abuse, dementia, disabilities, and somatic illness. We meet with relatives of all ages, from children to the elderly.

The Relative and Knowledge Center is centrally located on Drottninggatan in Norrköping. The operations are run by the Health and Care Department's authority functions in collaboration with the Social Services Office.

Your responsibilities

The main responsibility is to provide support to relatives living close to a relative with mental health issues/psychiatric diagnosis or neuropsychiatric disabilities. The support can consist of individual supportive conversations, discussion groups, training, and information campaigns.

You develop, plan, and lead groups, training sessions, and activities. Some groups are held in collaboration with other actors. The position includes marketing and informing about our operations in various ways, both digitally and in front of groups, at fairs, and similar events. The operations also offer activities focused on the relatives' own health and recovery.

Who are you?

We are looking for you with a relevant university degree for the assignment, such as a social worker, behavioral scientist, or occupational therapist.

Several years of experience working with people with mental health issues/psychiatry, and thereby also an understanding of the relatives' problems, is a requirement to be considered for the position.

If you have documented knowledge or work experience in areas such as neuropsychiatric disabilities and suicide prevention, it is meritorious.

You have experience and high competence in leading supportive, reflective, and difficult conversations. You have good empathetic ability, are secure and stable, and can lead group discussions.

You are accustomed to monitoring the external environment and have good knowledge of society's support and services.

The work is very independent but also requires teamwork skills, as collaboration with other actors and colleagues is an important part of the operations.

You express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and can clearly inform about the operations in various contexts. If you have additional language skills, please state them in your application. A B-driving license for a car with a manual gearbox is desirable.
