Food and Childcare Assistant at Lekstugan in Gothenburg
FÖRÄLDRAKOOPERATIV LEKSTUGAN I LUNDEN EK FÖRVästra Götalands län, Göteborg
Previous experience is desired
Who are you?
Do you enjoy creating a pleasant atmosphere, taking responsibility for everyday practical tasks, and being a secure adult in the presence of children? Then this might be the right job for you.
We are looking for an employee for a shared position, where the main task is to be responsible for the meals in the preschool kitchen. Lunch meals are delivered by a catering company, which means that cooking is not included in the role. Instead, the work involves ordering meals, handling food, preparing and setting out lunch and snacks, as well as keeping the kitchen clean and tidy before and after meals.
When kitchen duties are completed, you act as a resource in the children's group and support the educators in daily operations. You contribute to a safe and calm environment and are helpful where needed, with an understanding of your role in relation to the pedagogical activities led by the principal and qualified preschool teachers.
We are looking for someone who is responsible, flexible, and thrives in collaboration within a small team. You appreciate clear routines and want to contribute to the smooth running of the preschool's daily life, with the children's well-being as the focus.
Who are we?
Lekstugan is a parent cooperative that has existed for 35 years in the heart of Lunden in Gothenburg. The preschool is located in a charming old building that once served as a cinema, with its own courtyard and close proximity to both nature and the city's cultural offerings.
We have space for 24 children in a mixed age group ranging from 1 to 6 years old. The children spend time in common areas and are divided into smaller groups during parts of the day. The guardians are responsible for the practical and administrative work in the cooperative, which creates great participation and a clear sense of community among our members. The cooperative is led by a board consisting of guardians, and the pedagogical activities are planned and led by the staff – consisting of a principal/preschool teacher, another preschool teacher, two childcare assistants, and a kitchen manager.
About the position
We are now looking for a Food and Childcare Assistant for our dedicated team. The position is varied and covers two main areas of responsibility:
In the kitchen:
You are responsible for creating order and comfort around mealtimes. This includes, among other things:
- Ordering lunch from a catering company
- Preparing breakfast and snacks
- Dishwashing and cleaning after meals
- Planning purchases and handling consumables
- Maintaining the kitchen environment and dining areas clean and safe according to current hygiene routines
In the children's group:
The remaining time is spent as a key resource in the children's group. You work together with the educators to create a safe, playful, and educational environment. This may involve participating in activities, supporting children in daily situations, and helping the day run smoothly – with the children's needs and well-being in focus.
You are not responsible for planning or designing the pedagogical activities, but you are an important adult in the children's daily environment and collaborate closely with qualified staff.
Position in brief
- Scope: Permanent full-time position (100%). Fixed monthly salary according to collective agreement.
- Start date: From August 16, 2026 (or as agreed)
- Working hours: Four-week rolling schedule. The facility is open from 7:00–17:30 (times may change if care needs in the children's group change).
- Benefits:
- Free pedagogical meals
- Health allowance
- Collective agreement (Fremia)
- Joint Christmas party with staff and board!
According to the Swedish Education Act, an extract from the Police Register must be presented before employment in child care. You order this yourself via the police website if you are called for an interview.

- Have experience working in service, preferably in a kitchen or preschool setting
- Are a warm, structured, and responsible person who enjoys collaborating
- Are quick to take initiative and see what needs to be done
- Speak Swedish fluently in speech and writing
