The Cultural School in Kungälv is now looking for an engaged and skilled substitute piano teacher!

The Cultural School in Kungälv offers a wide range of subjects and activities: semester courses, short courses, holiday activities, and open activities.

The Cultural School in Kungälv meets approximately 1,400 children and young people every week with courses in music, dance, visual arts, film, theater, and crafts. We are located in Mimers Kulturhus – a creative hub with a library, theater, café, and art gallery – but we also teach at the municipality's schools. We collaborate across subject boundaries, within culture, and with actors such as primary schools, leisure centers, and the cultural life. At the Cultural School, you become part of a team passionate about the creative development of children and young people. There is room here for both artistic freedom and collegial collaboration.

We are looking for a substitute piano teacher who has good cooperation skills, a genuine interest in piano teaching, and working with children and young people. You are skilled with both groups and individuals and wish to be a social and human role model with an understanding of all people's differences, both cultural and social. You are a flexible educator with good initiative. To succeed in the assignment, you must have a good ability to meet children and young people with different prerequisites.

Responsibilities

Teach piano in small groups, piano play (pianolek), and individually. Depending on competence, teach in children's choir. Participate in stage activities, concerts, and projects. Collaborate with colleagues, students, guardians, and external actors. The teaching takes place primarily during students' free time, but daytime teaching also occurs. Most tasks are in the afternoons, evenings, and some holidays.

Qualifications

• University education in music pedagogy or equivalent education and experience as assessed by the employer.
• Experience of teaching in a cultural school or similar activity.
• Good cooperation skills and commitment to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.
• An approach that promotes student participation and development.
• Flexible as a person.
• Broad knowledge of styles and creativity in teaching.

In addition to experience of teaching both individually and in a piano group, it is meritorious if you have also taught in a choir and if you have experience working at a music or cultural school.

Meritorious:

• Education in more subjects such as e.g., choir/singing, ensemble leadership, stage activities.
• Teacher certification.
• Category B driver's license.

The position is a substitute position at 50% during the autumn semester of 2026, with good opportunities for extension.
