The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) is the leading, guiding, and coordinating authority in civil defence. We ensure that society is prepared for crisis, high alert, and war.

Do you want to lead the work to make all of Sweden ready? Then you could be our next colleague.

As a case officer, you will be part of the team at the Section for Industrial Risks, working with large-scale industrial chemical management. Here, you will have the opportunity to contribute to preventing serious chemical accidents in the process industry and limiting the consequences of such accidents for people's health and the environment.

Your responsibilities and tasks

You will work with analyzing permit applications from environmentally hazardous activities and presenting the agency's views through statements and during main hearings. You will also develop and provide support to the County Administrative Boards in their supervision according to the Seveso legislation.

You will carry out these tasks in collaboration with your colleagues within the agency, as well as with other authorities and actors.

Your tasks include, among other things:

  • Processing incoming permit cases.
  • Monitoring, developing, supporting, and guiding the County Administrative Boards in their supervision of Seveso activities.
  • Developing the subject area of Seveso legislation (nationally and internationally).
  • Planning and conducting conferences and webinars.

Your knowledge and competencies

We are looking for you who have:

  • Relevant academic education, preferably within natural sciences or engineering, or alternatively other education combined with work experience that the employer considers equivalent.
  • Experience from the public sector regarding supervisory work concerning the Environmental Code and Seveso.

It is meritorious if you have:

  • Experience working with supervisory guidance, supervision, and permit assessments regarding Seveso and the Environmental Code.
  • Experience working with the Environmental Code and Seveso legislation, preferably regarding environmentally hazardous activities.
  • Experience working within the process or manufacturing industry.
  • Experience working with risk management, guidance, or analysis.

In all our work, both internally and externally, we must act based on the government's values. As all employees and leaders here, you are expected to act according to the agency's approach.

The approach applies in everyday life, crisis, and war. They should be seen as a whole and are built on each other; collaboration-oriented – proactive – action-oriented.
