About the job

We are looking for you who want to support people in their daily lives, both inside and outside the home. Bankogatan, located near Axel Dahlströms torg, is a residence with special service for eight people with physical and intellectual disabilities. The support needs of our tenants vary, ranging from nursing care with full ADL (Activities of Daily Living) to more verbal support and guidance. The goal is for those living here to receive individualized support to live as independently as possible, where we promote health and rehabilitation.

The role of a support assistant involves providing individually adapted support to residents through a low-affective approach, as well as encouraging and motivating them in daily rehabilitation and daily living. Some residents have significant care needs and require assistance with transfers. As a support assistant at Bankogatan, you will collaborate closely with the health and medical team, consisting of a nurse, physiotherapist, and occupational therapist. Your duties also include medication management according to delegation, social documentation in the Treserva system, and other administrative tasks.

Some of us encounter barriers when the world is not designed for the way we function. As a support assistant, your role is to support tenants in participating and creating opportunities to influence decisions and interventions. You are a support in everyday life, handling everything from communication and stimulating leisure activities to household chores. Your role is to adapt your support and contribute to a good and independent life. You collaborate with other people around the tenant, such as guardians, social workers, relatives, and healthcare.

We use the scheduling program Time Care and work actively with optimized staffing and collaboration between units in the scheduling group. The work is currently scheduled for days, evenings, and three weekends out of six. Morning shifts start at 07:00 and evening shifts can last until 21:30.

About you

We are looking for you who have a degree from the Care and Nursing program, the Support Assistant education, or the Child and Leisure program with a focus on social or pedagogical work. The educational requirement is also met if you have a post-secondary specialization in the disability field comprising at least 200 YH credits, 120 university credits, or a combination thereof equivalent to at least four semesters of full-time studies. Alternatively, 60 university credits and at least two years of experience working with support and services for people with disabilities. The education should have relevant points in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) nursing or other education that the employer deems equivalent.

You have experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, people with complex needs and high care needs, and low-affective interaction. Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing is a prerequisite for communication with our users and staff, as well as in tasks involving social documentation. The requirement is a passing grade in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a Second Language 1. You who do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a Second Language 1 may be offered to take a language test through the test provider EducateIt.

If you also have experience with any of the following methods: AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), MI (Motivational Interviewing), and clarifying pedagogy, this is an advantage for you.

You are friendly and helpful towards other people even in stressful situations, and are attentive and open to understanding other people's needs, feelings, and opinions. You work well with others by listening, showing interest, and respect. You are calm and confident in pressured and difficult situations.
