The school system in Luleå is a national role model for national minorities, and we aim to be leaders in the country in this area. All children and young people belonging to national minorities can, want to, and dare to develop their language and cultural identity in all activities.

Language and culture are seen as assets for the individual and for society. Since February 2018, Luleå Municipality has been the administrative municipality for the national minority languages Meänkieli and Sami. Previously, Luleå has been the administrative municipality for Finnish. Being an administrative municipality means, among other things, that the municipality must inform about and offer bilingual preschool to the relevant target group of parents and their children. We are therefore looking for a preschool teacher who speaks Finnish.

The significantly bilingual preschool opened in the autumn of 2019 at Charlottendal Preschool, where we have sections for Meänkieli, Sami, and Finnish. At this significantly bilingual preschool, the activity is organized so that one of the administrative languages is alive and can be used and developed for large parts of the day. Charlottendal Preschool is located in a beautiful natural area in the center of central Luleå. Around the corner, we have the lovely Boulogner forest with a small football/hockey pitch nearby that we can use. Our activity is characterized by ensuring that all children can be in an allowing, safe, creative, joyful, and learning environment. At our workplace, it is important that everyone feels good and feels they have a valuable role. This applies to both children and adults. We have an allowing work climate and we care about being there for each other, both in the work team and in the whole house.

WORK ASSIGNMENTS

As a preschool teacher, you play a crucial role in children's development and well-being. You will have a multifaceted role and work closely with childcare assistants and other staff at the preschool to create a safe, stimulating, and accessible education for the children. Your main work assignments include:

• ensuring goal-directed processes take place and conducting teaching together with childcare assistants, where children's participation and influence are central
• ensuring that teaching in the preschool takes place in accordance with the goals of the curriculum
• planning, implementation, and development of teaching together in the work team and for the entire preschool
• ensuring that the preschool's learning environments offer variation where children can further develop their abilities in an accessible learning environment for care, play, movement, health, development, and learning

You work to create safe and trusting relationships with children, colleagues, and guardians.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are educated and licensed as a preschool teacher with the eligibility to teach in preschool, and who have good knowledge of Finnish as well as Swedish in both speech and writing. It is meritorious if you have professional experience from working in a preschool as well as if you have knowledge of another language.

As a person, you need to be structured and able to plan, organize, and complete your work. To succeed in the role, it is required that you have the ability to meet the needs of different children, to create good relationships with children, guardians, and colleagues, and that you value collaboration and strive for common success. Your creative ability to think outside the box when needed is also important.

If you become suitable for the position, you will need to present a certified extract from the criminal record.
