We are looking for an enthusiastic North Sámi teacher at Sameskolan in Jåhkåmåhkke

The Sami Education Authority is a government agency with its administration office in Jåhkåmåhkke (Jokkmokk). We operate Sameskolan, a school form equivalent to the compulsory school system, offering education from pre-school class to year 6. Our teaching is based on Sami culture and language according to the current curriculum. We also operate preschools in cooperation with respective municipalities. Our activities are located in Giron, Gárasavvon, Váhtjer, Jåhkåmåhkke, and Dearna.

The Sami Education Authority also arranges distance education in Sami languages and supports the development and production of teaching materials for Sami education.

About the position

We are now looking for a new colleague to join our team in Jåhkåmåhkke. This is a permanent full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate teaching in North Sámi in accordance with the school's governing documents and from a Sami perspective, both individually and in work groups.
• Actively participate in developing successful learning environments together with other staff at the school.
• Participate in other work at the school together with the school staff.

Qualifications

• Teacher's degree with a valid teaching license.
• Proficiency in North Sámi, both orally and in writing.
• Good knowledge of Sami culture.
• Positive outlook on people and ability to build good relationships.
• Ability to prevent and resolve conflicts.
• Meticulous, flexible, and attentive to students' needs.
• Enjoyment of working with children and young people.
