We are looking for an enthusiastic teacher of Swedish as a Second Language at Strömstad Gymnasium

Strömstad Municipality is a small and close-knit organization where everyone is important and works together to deliver the best possible service. Strömstad Gymnasium and the adult education center Campus Strömstad enjoy a fantastic location with beautiful premises and purpose-built classrooms. The school is an attractive workplace for approximately 600–700 students and 70 employees. The gymnasium offers four university-preparatory programs, three vocational programs, three apprenticeship programs, as well as introductory programs.

Job Responsibilities

This teaching position is primarily aimed at SFI (Swedish for Immigrants), but teaching in basic Swedish as a second language as well as upper secondary courses in Swedish as a second language may occur. A large part of our education is vocational training, which includes combined programs. A combined program means that a vocational teacher and a language teacher work together to integrate Swedish and vocational subjects.

You will keep the national goals in focus in the operations, systematically and continuously planning, following up, and developing the education based on each individual student's needs and prerequisites. You collaborate with your colleagues to develop each student as much as possible.

You will primarily teach SFI. Teaching in basic Swedish as a second language as well as upper secondary courses may occur, including teaching within vocational training.

The position is permanent with a full-time engagement (100%). Start date in August 2026, subject to necessary decisions being made and the education programs starting.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a certified teacher in Swedish as a second language. You are well acquainted with the school's curriculum and governing documents. It is meritorious if you have experience working in adult education, with language integration, and have qualifications for upper secondary level as well.

You focus on working based on students' different needs, seeing opportunities and potential in every individual. It is natural for you to take responsibility for good pedagogical operations and always put the student at the center. You have good digital competence and can handle information, documentation, and use digital tools as a natural part of the teaching.

As a person, you are secure and have a low-affective approach to interaction. Your working method is situation-adapted; you have a non-hierarchical attitude and a good ability to collaborate across subject boundaries. Good knowledge, flexibility, social competence combined with joy of work and creativity are important prerequisites for succeeding in the assignment.

You can communicate well in Swedish, both orally and in writing.
