Description

Gärdsåsskolan is now looking for two teachers in Mathematics and Natural Sciences for secondary school education. One position is permanent and full-time, while the other is fixed-term for the entire autumn semester of 2026. Gärdsåsskolan has large, bright, and spacious premises with good connections via Kortedala Square. A total of approximately 350 students attend the middle and upper secondary levels at Gärdsåsskolan. For the autumn semester of 2026, we will become a comprehensive school (grades 1-9) with approximately 600 students.

To achieve high goal fulfillment and continuously develop the school's operations, our educators are keen on further education and staying updated with the latest research. Regarding digitalization, our educators work with it in various ways through digital tools and teaching materials. Students at the school have access to their own Chromebooks and work with Gleerup's digital teaching materials.

Job Responsibilities

We work in teams with a focus on the student and the student's knowledge development. We have high expectations of our students and everyone who works at the school. Gärdsåsskolan features cultural and linguistic diversity. Students have different backgrounds; they come from various parts of the world, and living conditions vary. In the school, they meet on equal terms. The knowledge and experiences the children bring with them are often used in teaching. You plan, implement, and evaluate teaching in Mathematics and Natural Sciences according to the current curriculum, based on the students' needs and prerequisites. You are passionate about making mathematics and science interesting and accessible to all students, and you have a good ability to create structure, clarity, and a calm working environment in the classroom. The position also includes mentorship, and you are expected to have good dialogue with students, colleagues, and guardians.

To give you, as a newly graduated teacher, the best possible start in your career, you will participate in the Basic Education Administration's Teacher Academy introduction program for newly graduated teachers. The introduction provides you with a network of other newly graduated teachers and targeted activities during your first year as a teacher.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a certified teacher with the qualifications to teach Mathematics and Natural Sciences in grades 7-9. The role also requires that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language in speech and writing, are well-versed in regulatory documents, and have good computer skills.

As a person, you have the ability to act independently based on what the situation requires without needing support from others. You have the ability to make independent decisions within the framework of your assignment. Furthermore, you have the ability to work together with others to perform tasks and achieve goals.

You understand the common mission, act accordingly, and contribute to the whole. You show respect and consideration for those you meet in your professional role. You proceed from the equal value of all and create a good atmosphere in the meeting. You have an open and positive attitude as you base your actions on the students' needs.
