Chemical Handler for 1st Air Maintenance Unit

About the Unit

The 1st Air Maintenance Unit is responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance on our Gripen aircraft, as well as all maintenance equipment associated with the aircraft. We also support daily flight operations with preparation and readiness maintenance. Our tasks are primarily national, but international assignments may also occur. The 1st Air Maintenance Unit consists of a unit command, two air maintenance companies, an air workshop company, and an availability group.

Main Responsibilities

As a Chemical Handler, you will process and coordinate the chemical management for the 1st Air Maintenance Unit. Duties include maintaining the unit's chemical register and preparing and updating risk assessments for the unit's chemicals. The role also involves representing the unit in various collaboration forums regarding chemicals within the unit. The position belongs to the unit command, and you will be part of its working group. Your work also includes maintaining a good physical standard. Employment with the Swedish Armed Forces includes the obligation to train and serve in both national and international operations.

Qualifications

• Approved upper secondary school diploma
• Class B driver's license
• Experience in chemical handling

QUALIFICATIONS

• Conscription or military basic training
• Military work permit
• Knowledge of Swedish Armed Forces guidelines and regulations
• Knowledge of Swedish Armed Forces chemical handling
• Experience working in Swedish Armed Forces support systems such as Microsoft Office, VIDAR, and PRIO

Employment type: Fixed-term employment according to Special Fixed-Term Employment (SÄVA), starting with a 6-month probationary period (for those not already employed by the Swedish Armed Forces).

Scope: 60%.

Work location: Såtenäs.

Skaraborg Wing is a versatile and unique air wing. It houses combat aircraft as well as the Swedish Armed Forces' combined resources of transport and special aircraft. We conduct basic and occupational training for conscripted recruits and train all Swedish and foreign Gripen pilots. The unit also participates in many operations. In Sweden, the operations are located in Såtenäs, Malmen, Arlanda, and Karlsborg. Abroad, we are responsible for Gripen support in Thailand and for the Swedish personnel at the international transport cooperation Heavy Airlift Wing in Hungary.
