The Environmental Section works with environmental issues concerning shipping and aviation. Your main tasks will involve climate issues, primarily within the shipping sector.
The duties are varied, and part of the role involves contributing to the development of global and national instruments for the climate transition of shipping. This includes, among other things, participating in and representing Sweden at meetings within the shipping's international UN body, IMO, and within the EU. The tasks may also involve technical issues concerning regulations for climate transition. Other issues within the section's or department's area of responsibility may also become relevant.
The position involves travel, both domestic and international.

You will
- drive the work on developing regulations and instruments to reduce the climate impact of shipping, including describing and analyzing the consequences of proposed regulations
- prepare issues for, and participate in, international negotiations and expert groups
- write background materials for, and answer questions from, the Government Offices of Sweden
- collaborate internationally, within the EU, and cooperate with other Swedish authorities, as well as maintain a dialogue with industry organizations
- answer questions from the public and other stakeholders, and respond to official consultations.
- Support other sections of the Swedish Transport Administration with expertise.
You must have
- a relevant university degree, in e.g., environmental science, law, international relations, or other education that we assess as relevant
- experience in working with climate issues
- good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in both Swedish and English.
It is an advantage if you also have
- international experience in negotiations, development work, or similar
- experience in analyzing and developing proposals for instruments, preferably based on Swedish priorities with trade-offs between different societal goals
- experience in strategic investigative work
- experience in reading and interpreting legal texts
- worked at a government agency
- experience in work within shipping and/or aviation.

The employment is permanent with placement in Norrköping, Stockholm, or Gothenburg.
Appointment according to agreement.
We normally apply a probationary period. We offer remote work based on the needs of the business, up to 3 days.
An employment with us may involve placement in a security classification. A security investigation with register control according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585) may therefore be conducted. For some of our security-classified tasks, Swedish citizenship is required.
