Job Description

As a Building Permit Officer, you work with the processing of building permits, notifications, pre-decisions, and supervision according to the Planning and Building Act. The position is a combined role where you work both as a Building Permit Officer and a Building Inspector. You are responsible for the entire process, from processing to technical aspects, and you drive your cases independently.

Responsibilities include:

• processing and making delegated decisions in building permit cases
• preparing decision materials and presenting cases to the Building and Traffic Committee
• holding technical consultations, conducting site visits, and final consultations
• issuing start and end notices, processing supervision cases, coastal protection dispensations, and other common cases within the legislative area
• providing advice and service to residents, assisting with questions related to building permits in other parts of the municipality's operations, including planning and development issues

The position offers varied and independent work where you have the opportunity to develop both professionally and personally. There will be opportunities for remote work when the assignment allows.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are educated as a Building Permit Officer, Building Engineer, or have other education that the employer deems equivalent. For the role, you are required to have good building technical understanding as well as experience working in the construction or supervision area, or other work experience that the employer deems equivalent.

To succeed in the role, you need to:

• have good ability to communicate clearly in speech and writing
• be service-oriented and have a professional attitude
• be able to work in a structured, responsible, and independent manner, while also being good at collaborating
• enjoy the role of guiding others in a service-oriented and professional manner

You will be the only person in this role within the area, which requires that you are confident in your competence and have the ability to work independently and make your own decisions.

A Category B driver's license is required.
