About the Workplace
The lawyer is part of the Executive Director's staff within the Administration and Finance Department. The department supports the administration's core operations and serves as a key resource for ensuring quality and the fulfillment of the Educational Board's mission. The department holds competencies in finance, procurement, real estate, security, as well as information and case management, where the lawyer works closely with the Board Secretary, Archivist, and Document Controller. Our workplace is located in fine, centrally situated premises on Skånegatan, near Korsvägen.
Job Responsibilities
The lawyer provides support to the administration's managers and employees on legal matters. You will primarily work with the Education Act, the Administrative Procedure Act, the Local Government Act, and the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act.
Additional tasks include responding to official consultations, assisting in appeals to higher instances, monitoring legislative developments, and scanning the external environment within your area of expertise. The lawyer also contributes to raising competence regarding current legislation through various training initiatives within the organization, as well as contributing to the development of working methods and processes within the administration.
The work is autonomous but requires a high degree of collaboration within the unit and with the various operations within the organization. As the sole lawyer within the administration, you will collaborate in various networks with lawyers within the City of Gothenburg.
Qualifications
We are looking for you who have a law degree and good knowledge of education legislation, municipal law, and administrative law. You have experience in legal work within public administration, preferably from a municipality.
To succeed in this role, you need good knowledge and understanding of the political process that governs municipal and public operations. It is important that you have a structured approach to work and the ability to drive the work forward independently. As a person, you have integrity and sound judgment.
Since the role involves a largely consultative function, you are comfortable communicating and building relationships. The work requires good proficiency in Swedish, both oral and written.
As an applicant for this position, you will be asked to answer a number of questions regarding your competencies in various areas during the application process. We will base our selection for interviews on these. The purpose of this approach is to make the selection objective and accurate.
Other Information
For your planning purposes, we inform you in advance that we intend to hold interviews during week 26.
For your interview, you need to bring a passport/national ID and, if applicable, proof of residence permit if you hold citizenship outside the EU/EEA. This is because, as employers, we need to verify your identity and ensure you have the right to work in Sweden.
In reference to the laws governing background checks, anyone offered this position must provide a certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) before an employment contract can be drawn up.
In this recruitment, an extended background check may become relevant for the final candidate.
For positions requiring specific education, you will be asked to submit documentation proving your education, such as a license or degree certificate, as you progress in the recruitment process. You can also attach these directly to your application.
