We are a general intensive care unit and partially staff six postoperative beds, where we treat patients of all ages, from the youngest children to the oldest adults. As part of the MIG team, we are also an important support for the entire hospital. We are proud of our strong team spirit and high mutual trust, which makes us a workplace where well-being and development go hand in hand. Here, you have great opportunities for competence development, both through scheduled study time and through our cross-professional work groups. WORK ASSIGNMENTS

This training position involves one year of studies to become an Intensive Care Nurse, starting in the autumn of 2025 at Linnaeus University in Växjö. The graduation will take place by summer 2027, and you will then be offered employment at the intensive care unit in Växjö and your new profession as a specialist nurse. During the training period, you will receive full salary at the level of a nurse and complete your practicum at the intensive care unit in Växjö. As a qualified intensive care nurse, you work in close teamwork with an assistant nurse. Intensive care works with high staffing per care bed, and usually, you and your assistant nurse care for one patient together during your shift. As an intensive care nurse, you will have a broad knowledge base to rely on as we care for patients from all of the hospital's clinics. Your patient's care needs are high when they are in the ICU. You use medical technical aids and potent medications to save your patient's life.

When you graduate, your introduction as an intensive care nurse at the department continues. You then have a long-term learning process before you master all types of patients within intensive care. Over time, you will also have the chance to deepen your knowledge in different parts of intensive care by participating in continuous further education.

QUALIFICATIONS

We welcome you who are a licensed nurse and have at least one year of clinical experience as a nurse before the education begins to apply. A prerequisite for getting the position is that you are admitted to the specialist nurse education.

To thrive as an intensive care nurse, you enjoy structuring your day and dedicating your time and energy primarily to caring for one patient. This is complemented by elements of emergency care where you work in a larger team to keep the patient alive after, for example, trauma, acute sepsis, or cardiac arrest. You enjoy variety in your daily life, where there can be both a lot to do and calmer periods where you can use the time to review your knowledge and skills. As an intensive care nurse, you should thirst for knowledge as there is an incredible amount to learn within our profession.
