Make a difference. Every day.

Are you healthcare-educated with an interest in transplantation and organ donation? Do you thrive in a coordinating and administrative role where you also work outward-facing with many different contact areas? Are you motivated by a great variation in both pace and tasks, where one day can be filled with administrative tasks, the next you have patient consultations for transplantation candidates, and then you are in an operating room as part of the team during a donation surgery? If so, this might be the perfect position for you!

The Transplantation Unit is a section within the Surgical and Gastroenterology Area at Skåne University Hospital (Sus) in Malmö. We cover the Southern Healthcare Region regarding kidney and pancreas transplantation as well as organ retrieval for transplantation. Approximately 80 kidney transplants using kidneys from living or deceased donors are performed each year, and organ donation occurs on approximately 40 occasions per year.

Within the transplantation unit, transplantation coordinators, research nurses, secretaries, and transplant surgeons work in close collaboration. We also collaborate with other activities and regions.

In the autumn of 2025, we started a reorganization with a clear focus on close collaboration in a new work group. Our unit is small, which means that the importance of supporting and helping each other as colleagues becomes crucial for both the work environment and results. We are now looking for another person who wants to contribute to our continued journey and development.

1 position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Our core activity and the most central part of the position is to maintain readiness for coordination and participation in organ donation in the Southern Healthcare Region. In the donation process, your responsibility is to coordinate the work of obtaining medical information, allocating organs, and establishing a schedule that works for all involved teams in close collaboration with, among others, intensive care. During donation surgery, you are on-site together with the teams and have a coordinating and leading role.

As a transplantation coordinator, you have a variety of tasks. You administer the waiting list for kidney transplantation and participate together with the transplant surgeon in patient information/consultations before and after transplantation. You also work on initiatives to promote organ donation in various contexts, for example by participating in information meetings, in training, and updating and distributing information material.

The activity is complex and dynamic, where you gradually take on tasks and areas of responsibility in your position.

The working hours are essentially Monday to Friday during the day. The position includes readiness for organ donation. The readiness is outside regular working hours in the evenings, nights, and weekends according to a fixed schedule. Travel for work is included in connection with organ donation, course activities, and participation in various meetings.

We welcome you who are healthcare-educated with eligibility to work within Swedish healthcare and with an interest in transplantation and organ donation.
