School Counselor at Skogstorpsskolan in Eskilstuna

Approximately 850 students from preschool class to grade nine attend Skogstorpsskolan. The school has just over 100 employees and is located in Skogstorp, a residential area seven kilometers south of Eskilstuna city center. We see the F-9 perspective (preschool class to grade nine) as a good prerequisite for working with our vision and our goal that all students will become eligible for upper secondary school after their time at our school.

Job Responsibilities

In this position, we are looking for you who want to work with both younger and older students. As a counselor here, you will work closely with our students. You will be visible at the school, catch issues early, and work health-promoting and preventative. Part of this also involves conducting activities with classes, for example, discussing various themes that arise when questions occur among students, as well as providing advice and support to staff and school management. An important part is the work regarding values and norms. Individual conversations and contact with guardians are also part of your duties, as well as conducting social investigations and assessments.

You will be active in our principal's area where you work together with our other school counselor, colleagues in the student health team, and other staff.

We work with both everyday and preventative measures, and in this position, you will receive regular competence development. As a school counselor in Eskilstuna Municipality, you will also be part of our central school counselor group. All municipal school counselors meet regularly and participate in supervision together with other school counselors.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have completed education as a social worker or behavioral scientist, or alternatively, who will complete the education by summer. We prefer that you have previously worked as a school counselor or have other experience working with children and young people. It is an advantage if you have previous experience collaborating with other services within the municipality and region, such as Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (BUP), habilitation, social services, meeting places, and family centers.

If you have experience and understanding of the importance of student health work for students' health and development, you will quickly get into the work! The position includes documentation in our journal system Prorenata, which requires that you can express yourself well in speech and writing in Swedish and that you can use IT as part of your daily work.

Of course, the formal requirements are important, but we also place value on your personal qualities.
