About the Role

Do you want a key role where you can combine analysis, business understanding, and strategic support? We are now looking for a Financial Controller who wants to contribute to stable and forward-looking financial management within our organization.

As a Financial Controller, you play a central role in planning, follow-up, and development. You support managers and operations with financial matters, produce analyses and decision support materials, and work with accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial follow-up. Through your work, you contribute to well-founded decisions, efficient resource utilization, and management that supports the organization's goals.

In this role, you will work operationally in daily financial tasks while also maintaining a strategic perspective on the development of the business. With your analytical skills and holistic view, you identify areas for improvement, see connections, and contribute to solutions that strengthen both efficiency and quality.

As a Financial Controller, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing, coordinating, and following up on budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
  • Analyzing financial outcomes, key performance indicators (KPIs), and variances, and reporting results to managers and leadership
  • Producing decision support materials, financial reports, and presentations to support business management
  • Conducting accounting work and ensuring quality in financial processes and reporting
  • Supporting managers with financial matters related to planning, follow-up, and resource allocation
  • Collaborating with other functions and departments to help the organization achieve its financial goals
  • Identifying areas for development and improvement in financial management, follow-up, and working methods

This is a position for someone with a strong interest in finance, driven by using analysis and insights to create value, support decision-making, and contribute to the sustainable development of the organization. You will become part of an engaged team where collaboration, professionalism, and development are in focus. Here, you will have the opportunity to influence, contribute your perspectives, and help develop our financial processes and working methods.

About You

We are looking for you who have a university degree in public administration, economics, or another university degree that the employer considers equivalent.

It is meritorious if you have experience in qualified financial work, preferably within financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. If you have previously worked for the City of Gothenburg or in other public administration, we view this as a plus. Experience or knowledge of social services is also considered meritorious. We also view it positively if you have experience working with BI tools.

You have the courage and ability to make your own decisions within the framework of your assignment without being dependent on others. You take responsibility for your tasks and drive the work forward.

You are motivated by clearly defined goals and have the ability to translate them into concrete action. With a focus on the goal, you can reprioritize work when conditions or needs change. You follow up and report on results and goal achievement.

You work well with others by listening, showing interest, and respect. You understand the common mission and work to make it as successful as possible.

You can see your work as part of a larger context and understand how it affects and is affected by other parts of the organization. You collaborate with others on overarching issues to create value. You take into account different sources of information and perspectives and can adapt others' ideas to your own operations.

You can effectively identify and analyze the core of a problem and propose possible solutions. You have the ability to see connections and draw logical conclusions from limited and/or complex information.
