Do you want meaningful tasks that make a difference in people's lives? Welcome to a municipality that is far from mediocre!
The Employment and Adult Education Administration is responsible for the municipality's employment measures, day activities, adult education, and issues related to higher education, such as university college programs and other post-secondary education. Our goal is to provide residents of Botkyrka with good conditions to enter studies, work, and employment. We are 330 employees working to enable more citizens to achieve self-sufficiency.
The Role and Responsibilities
Employment under the Social Services Act (SoL) consists of structured employment and an open drop-in center. This position is focused on the open drop-in center.
We are looking for an employment counselor for the drop-in center, which belongs to the Work and Employment unit. The drop-in center is an open activity without a social assistance decision and is an important part of the municipality's transition according to the new Social Services Act. The activity targets adults with intellectual disabilities or co-occurring disorders and focuses on accessibility, participation, and a preventive approach.
As an employment counselor, you offer a safe and welcoming meeting place where the content of the activity is shaped together with the visitors within set frameworks. You work relationally, collaborate with internal and external actors, and contribute to developing methods, routines, and structures as the activity grows. Documentation is part of the assignment to an adapted extent.
Your main responsibilities include:
- planning and conducting activities based on the visitors' needs
- providing social support by, for example, offering guests the opportunity to meet others, talk, and play games
- creating safety and building trusting relationships
- collaborating and developing networks with relevant actors
- contributing to the development of the drop-in center's structure and content
- documenting according to current guidelines.
The work is done in a team together with other employment counselors and the activity manager. If needed, you may also support the structured employment within Employment SoL.
What We Offer You
At Employment SoL, you become part of a work group with nine employment counselors and an activity manager. The drop-in center is located in newly built and centrally located premises in Fittja Center, together with several other municipal activities. The activity is under construction, which means you will get to shape the methods and content from the ground up. We work closely together, share responsibility, and create a safe and accessible activity for the target group.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to early and preventive support where the focus is on participation and self-determination. We offer induction, supervision, and good opportunities to influence the continued development of the activity.
You Who Apply to Us
You have education as a social pedagogue, social worker, craft pedagogue, or other education that the employer considers equivalent. You have experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities or co-occurring disorders and are confident in a relational approach.
Other requirements:
- Experience in relational work in social activities.
- Category B driver's license.
We consider it meritorious if you have:
- Experience working in open activities without social assistance decisions.
- Experience in networking and collaboration with different actors.
- Training in Motivational Interviewing (MI).
- Experience in planning and conducting recovery-oriented activities.
- Experience with digital activity systems, such as LifeCare.
As an employment counselor, you are relational and confident in meeting people in different life situations. In an open activity without social assistance decisions, you need to be able to create trust, build long-term relationships, and contribute to visitors feeling welcome and included.
You are flexible and structured in your work approach. You can adapt activities based on changed needs while simultaneously creating clarity and continuity in everyday life. In the construction phase, you contribute with initiative and stability, which is crucial for the activity to develop sustainably over time.
