The Department of Odontology provides education for dentists, dental hygienists, and dental technicians at undergraduate and advanced levels, as well as supplementary education for dentists with foreign degrees.
Research and doctoral education within dental science, as well as continuing education activities, are also conducted at the department.
The Division of Pedodontics conducts research within the subject of pedodontics with a broad focus on care and hard tissue research.

Subject Description
Pedodontics is the specific and specialized dental subject that covers all aspects of children's and adolescents' dental care, including care and prevention. The subject of pedodontics includes diagnosis, therapy planning, and therapy for all existing disease conditions in the growing individual.
Job Responsibilities
Teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels, where the applicant's professional experience is to be applied in relevant teaching situations, as well as research and research supervision within the subject area. The teaching is conducted in Swedish. Supervision of degree projects is included, as is teaching in continuing education.
Administrative tasks regarding course delivery, development of study plans, and course planning are included.
The job responsibilities include actively seeking funding for own research.
Qualifications
Qualifications for employment as a teacher are specified in the Higher Education Ordinance as well as Gothenburg University's employment regulations.
Eligible for employment as a University Lecturer is the person who has completed a doctoral degree within what the employer assesses to be a relevant subject area for the current recruitment, as well as demonstrated pedagogical skill.
Dental license and specialist competence in the subject of pedodontics with documented clinical experience are required.
Swedish language skills, both spoken and written, are a requirement for the position.
Evaluation Criteria
Evaluation criteria for employment as a teacher are specified in the Higher Education Ordinance as well as in Gothenburg University's employment regulations.
In the assessment, scientific and pedagogical skill will be weighted equally and given primary importance.
Clinical skill and administrative skill will be weighted equally and given secondary importance.
In assessing pedagogical skill, great weight will be placed on documented skill and independence in the form of experience in teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels within pedodontics, as well as supervision of degree projects. The skill must be well documented in a way that makes it possible to assess the quality of the pedagogical activity. Completed higher education pedagogical education is meritorious.
In assessing scientific skill, special weight will be attached to the ability to conduct research within pedodontics and subject-relevant areas of collaboration. The applicant must have demonstrated skill in initiating, planning, leading, and developing research.
In assessing clinical skill, special weight will be given to documented experience of clinical work within the specialty of pedodontics. Clinical competence that can be applied in teaching situations is particularly meritorious.
Administrative skill is assessed based on experience and ability in course administration.
In the appointment, weight will also be placed on the ability to collaborate collegially, both internally and externally, and leadership ability.
Employment
Permanent employment with a scope of 50%. Location at the Department of Odontology. Start date by agreement.
Other Information
If the applicant lacks formal higher education pedagogical education at Gothenburg University, the applicant is expected to have completed higher education pedagogical education or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge within one year from the date of employment. The assessment of such higher education pedagogical merits shall take place in a special order in accordance with the decision of the Rector.
