About the Department

The Department of Communication & Customer Service leads and coordinates the municipality's communication efforts and service to citizens. Here, we work to create the greatest possible value for the municipality's operations and for everyone who lives, works, and visits Nyköping.

We are responsible for external and internal channels, design, content, strategic and operational communication support, crisis communication, and management support.

Job Responsibilities

As a Communications Strategist, you have overall responsibility for driving, leading, and developing communication work for one or more operations or focus areas. You combine strategic work, change management, and analysis with operational implementation.

You will:

• provide strategic communication support to management groups and contribute a communicative perspective to steering and decision-making
• plan, prioritize, and follow up on communication initiatives in line with the municipality's goals, brand, and direction
• drive and develop communication work based on the operations' needs, goals, and target groups
• coach managers and key personnel and strengthen the communicative capability within the organization
• ensure that assignments are clearly defined with goals, responsibilities, timeframes, and expected results
• quickly familiarize yourself with new issues and adapt communication based on changed conditions
• lead, coordinate, or participate in projects together with many different actors
• produce and publish content in relevant channels
• ensure that communication is tailored to target groups, cohesive, and long-term sustainable
• contribute to the development of the department's working methods and focus areas
• provide media support, handle media contacts, and prepare spokespeople
• participate in the municipality's crisis organization and work with crisis communication as needed

Qualifications and Merits

Requirements

• Relevant university degree in communication or equivalent
• At least 5 years of experience in qualified communication work
• Experience in strategic advisory roles at the management level
• Good experience in change management and complex organizations
• Experience collaborating with media and working with media issues
• Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish, both orally and in writing
• Knowledge of plain language and Swedish writing rules

Desirable Qualifications

• Experience from public sector operations, preferably municipal operations
• Experience in communicative leadership
• Experience working with societal issues, service, or safety
• Experience in crisis communication and environmental scanning
