The Department of History at Stockholm University offers education in history at undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. We have a wide range of courses and programs. The department also offers a program in cultural studies and a publishing program. At the Department of History, there is a vibrant research environment organized into different profile areas. The department has approximately 70 employees, including about ten administrative staff. We are now looking for a web administrator with good knowledge of the organization and structure in university and departmental environments.

Job Responsibilities

As a web administrator, you will support the department's staff with both external and internal communication, primarily through the department's website and social media. A large part of the work involves producing content about research and education in the field of history, both independently and in collaboration with others. Within the department, you act as a central hub by monitoring and disseminating relevant information.

Main responsibilities:

  • Update and manage content on the department's websites and social media channels.
  • Produce text and images about research and education in history, including for the department's digital Newsletter.
  • External communication, such as student recruitment, primarily via web and social media.
  • Accessibility adaptation of documents for the web.

You are expected to plan and carry out your tasks independently based on given guidelines, in collaboration with other staff. The workload varies, and it can be high, for example, at the start of a term. Therefore, it is important to be able to prioritize during peak work periods. Other tasks within both communication and administration may occur, such as the production of printed materials within the framework of the university's visual identity.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in working to convey research and education at a university/college. You enjoy providing good service and like having many contact points. In this role, it is important to be proactive, engaged, solution-oriented, and meticulous.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in a subject relevant to the role.
  • Experience and knowledge of website administration.
  • Experience with web publishing tools and web policies from the university and higher education sector.
  • Experience producing texts, preferably on historical subjects, and expressing yourself well in writing in both Swedish and English.

Merits

  • Experience with web administrative systems used at Stockholm University: Polopoly, Ladok, Athena/Canvas, tools for visual identity.
  • Basic knowledge of photo editing and layout programs (Adobe).
  • Master's degree in History.

About the Position

The position is part-time and fixed-term until 2027-02-28, with the possibility of extension. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting. Start date: 2026-09-01.
