The Swedish Pensions Agency is currently undergoing an exciting transformation to develop our new benefit system from the ground up, involving significant new development. We are now looking for several Java Developers who are collaborative and thrive in team environments!

About the job

As a Java Developer here, you will be part of a team working within a team-based organization following the agile framework SAFe. Our teams are cross-functional and self-managing to handle all parts of the development chain.

Here is how one of our teams describes itself:

– We are a self-organizing hybrid team working at the forefront with technical challenges related to the development of the next generation pension system, based on microservices. We facilitate quality assurance of services and systems and enable continuous delivery to test and production (CD/CI). Furthermore, our vision is to drive innovation and take responsibility for the architecture by being leaders in our field. Together with the team, you will have the opportunity to develop and work with cutting-edge technology.

Your profile

As a person, you enjoy teamwork where knowledge is shared and learned from each other. You speak your mind, listen to others, and are comfortable collaborating remotely as we work in distributed teams. You are a problem solver who enjoys translating complex requirements into structured code and wants to participate in guiding us in technology and methodology.

We care about our culture and how we collectively impact our shared workplace. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities.

We are looking for you who:

  • have relevant post-secondary education in fields such as data or computer science from a university or college
  • have at least five years of work experience as a system developer with Java and modern frameworks such as Spring Boot (We are also looking for candidates with less experience – see the "Java Developer" ad on our website.)
  • have developed and maintained complex systems in a larger development organization within sectors such as insurance, telecom, finance, or the public sector
  • have experience working in agile teams
  • are proficient in Swedish

It is an advantage if you:

  • have experience with REST services and JMS
  • have experience with build process tools such as Jenkins
  • are familiar with test frameworks such as JUnit or Cucumber
  • have experience working with code and build tools such as Git and Maven
  • have experience with a modern IDE, preferably IntelliJ

What we offer

A meaningful public sector role! A workplace where we value that our employees have a good balance between work and leisure. We apply a hybrid work model with the possibility of remote work and office work based on an agreement with the employer. As a state employee, you also have good employment conditions and a benefits package including wellness programs, flexible working hours, extra days off on bridge days, as well as good vacation and pension conditions.

Our office in Luleå is located on Porsön.

You can read more about our benefits and what it is like to work here here (#).

Good to know

The position is a permanent full-time employment with a 6-month probationary period.

The position may be subject to security clearance.

Your application

We work competency-based throughout the process and are keen on an inclusive, fair, objective, and candidate-friendly process. Therefore, we ask you to answer a number of selection questions instead of submitting a cover letter.

We will use work psychological tests.

If you have protected personal data, contact the recruiting manager who will help you with your application.

We strive for a balanced gender distribution and see diversity as a strength, welcoming applicants from various backgrounds.

In connection with the recruitment process, we have taken a stance on advertising channels and marketing. We therefore decline further contact with media/advertising sales, recruitment sites, and similar.

The Swedish Pensions Agency is responsible for the general pension and provides information about the entire pension system. Every year, we pay out approximately 415 billion SEK to 2.3 million pensioners, execute approximately 911,000 fund swaps, and send out 8 million orange envelopes. We have approximately 25 million digital customer contacts per year. We have approximately 1,700 employees across eight locations, from Luleå in the north to Halmstad in the south.
