Description

Vänersborg Municipality is now launching a school social team and is seeking a special needs educator for a project-based position.

The school social team is a collaboration between the school and social services. The purpose is to strengthen students' prerequisites for achieving educational goals, increase school attendance, and provide early support to break unfavorable development patterns. The team works in a cross-professional manner, enabling preventive and trust-building collaboration close to students, guardians, and school staff.

The team will develop working methods that complement and strengthen the efforts and operations already working to increase school attendance in the municipality. This work includes, among other things, the Mobile School Team and collaborating social secretaries, as well as other support structures within schools, student health services, and social services. The aim is to strengthen collaboration, create clearer working methods, and contribute to a more cohesive support system for students and guardians. The work may include targeted interventions for individual students at risk of school absenteeism as well as group-strengthening initiatives to promote general attendance in school.

Here, you will have the opportunity to help build a new operation that will create good prerequisites for all children in the municipality to succeed in their schooling. The school social team is led by the Head of Child and Student Health Services in close collaboration with the Unit Manager at the Individual and Family Care unit.

Responsibilities

In the school social team, you will work together with social services to increase school attendance in Vänersborg. Together, you will help develop working methods and routines for the team's work.

Examples of responsibilities include:

  • Working with schools to promote and prevent issues through early interventions to increase school attendance.
  • Conducting outreach, relationship-building, and motivational work to strengthen school attachment.
  • Working in a motivational and supportive manner with students and families.
  • Collaborating with authorities, schools/preschools, and family networks in both preventive and emerging situations.
  • Contributing to a structured and evidence-based approach within the area of school attendance.

In this role, you will use evidence-based methods and keep yourself updated on current research, both independently and together with your colleague.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who are a special needs educator or have another educational background that the employer deems equivalent. It is meritorious if you have knowledge about problematic school absenteeism, ADHD/Autism spectrum disorders (NPF), and mental ill health.

You must have a good ability to express yourself both orally and in writing, be experienced in documentation, and be able to create clarity even in complex situations.

We are looking for you who are structured and analytical, curious, eager to learn, and dare to challenge your own and others' knowledge. You must have the ability to see the big picture and contribute to predictability and continuity, build good relationships, and collaborate well. You easily adopt the child's perspective and communicate clearly, ensuring that messages and expectations are clear to all parties. You adapt to changed circumstances and see opportunities while maintaining a realistic perspective and focusing on the right things.

Conditions

Start date according to agreement. The position is a project appointment until December 31, 2028. A certificate of good conduct (extract from the criminal record) must be presented before employment.
