Description

The Adapted Upper Secondary School within the Education Administration in Gothenburg consists of 9 different schools geographically spread across the city. The Adapted Upper Secondary School is a distinct school form with its own curricula. Over 400 students study here on national and individual programs. The schools work based on each student's needs, development, opportunities, and prerequisites. We are constantly working to develop the pedagogical operations and teaching quality to achieve increased goal fulfillment for our students. The students are at different developmental levels and have intellectual disabilities, sometimes with additional disabilities such as autism, physical disabilities, visual or hearing impairments.

Job Responsibilities

We are now looking for a qualified and experienced special needs teacher (specialpedagog) for our overarching student health team. You will be part of our team consisting of 5 special needs teachers, 2 school nurses, 2 counselors, a school psychologist, and a Student and Career Counselor (SYV), with specific responsibility for certain school units. The role also includes coordinating tasks, such as leading competence development, networks, and other promoting initiatives at an overarching level. In your special needs teacher role at the school units, you supervise the work teams and act as a sounding board in the work with student goal fulfillment. You are a key support for the principal and teachers regarding special needs investigations and the creation of action plans. As a special needs teacher in the student health service, you have overarching responsibility for equity, shared vision, and quality assurance within the adapted upper secondary school's promoting and preventive student health work at both organizational, group, and individual levels. You plan and coordinate your tasks based on our common and focused goals as well as the local needs and prerequisites of the school units. The special needs teachers in the student health service play a central role in development work, both operationally and strategically, together with the student health manager, principals, and other professions within the student health service, but also together with the work teams at the schools.

At our school units, you will meet competent and engaged employees and managers, as well as approximately 400 wonderful students. We are far along in the health-promoting and preventive work, but we need to go even further, and that is where we need you and your competence.

Qualifications

A licensed teacher with a degree in special needs education and several years of experience in pedagogical and special needs work is required. Knowledge of and experience working with students belonging to the target group for this school form is highly meritorious. It is also meritorious if you have had leadership roles within the education sector.

You are a skilled team player and a reliable team member, but you also have the ability to work independently and take initiative. Good communication skills, clarity, sensitivity, and the ability to work in a structured manner are some of your outstanding qualities in your work. You create an overview of needs, prioritize, communicate, and translate identified needs into action – usually in collaboration with other functions in our operations, but also independently. You appreciate a flexible assignment where you get to develop and take significant responsibility.

Your digital competence is good, and you have knowledge of and experience with various programs and digital aids, preferably with a focus on teaching and communicative support.
