The Department of Systems and Space Technology conducts world-leading research and education with a strong experimental and applied profile. Our research areas include space technology, signals and systems, computer science, information systems, and industrial electronics. At our department, you can study to become a Master of Science in Engineering in Technical Physics and Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied AI, or Space Technology. We also offer programs in areas such as computer game programming, system science, and digital service development. Additionally, we have several international master's programs, for example in space and information security.

Do you want to combine your studies with a rewarding job within academia? The department is looking for one or more students who wish to work as a Teacher Assistant in courses during Study Period 1, providing support to our teaching staff.

Luleå University of Technology is a government agency and offers good employment conditions. As a student employed as a Teaching Assistant, you have the opportunity to combine studies with work to complement your theoretical knowledge with practical work experience.

Responsibilities

The tasks vary and provide insight into the academic world. You will have ongoing contact with course coordinators. Examples of tasks include:

• Teaching support in undergraduate education (supervision of labs and exercises)
• Grading of reports, submissions, and lab work
• Course administration including reporting of grading materials
• Work in the learning platform Canvas
• Leading application exercises and discussions on study techniques
• Coaching students for group work
• Develop and create course materials as needed

Qualifications and Experience

We are looking for you who are admitted to undergraduate or advanced level studies at LTU, preferably within the department's programs. Good subject knowledge is required, and it is an advantage if you have taken the course you will be teaching. You must be able to express yourself both orally and in writing in Swedish and English. Pedagogical skills and a genuine interest in teaching are important, and experience in similar work is an advantage. We make a holistic assessment with great emphasis on personal suitability.

Conditions

The employment is regulated according to the Higher Education Ordinance (HF Chapter 5, Section 10). You must be an active student throughout the entire employment period. The employment may correspond to a maximum of 50% of full-time work. An employment can be for up to one year at a time, but collectively no more than three years.

Hourly Wage/Compensation

The compensation for teaching assistants is based on the student's study merits:

Level 1 (<180 hp): 156 SEK/hour (approx. 25,700 SEK/month at full-time work).

Level 2 (≥180 hp): 171 SEK/hour (approx. 28,200 SEK/month at full-time work).

Information

The workload may vary over time and according to agreement, but the goal is to distribute it in a way that is compatible with studies at the university.

The position's time period covers Study Period 1, Autumn Term 2026 (September to October) with the possibility of extension.

The extent of the position is planned in agreement with the current student based on interest and availability stated in the application. The current extent in hours is distributed over a three-month period into a percentage of employment.

The position is placed at the research area where the majority of the position's extent lies.
