RESPONSIBILITIES
We are now welcoming a nurse for a day shift position.
Here, you will often encounter complex and exciting care processes in a dynamic environment where you, with your skills, have great opportunities to make a difference for the patient. Our goal is to always start from the patients' needs, where care is designed individually and characterized by professional interaction.
We offer you a responsible and varied job in an interdisciplinary team centered around the patient and their relatives. The unit is a welcoming workplace where we greet you as a new colleague with joy and openness and offer supervision. You will receive an individualized introduction with the possibility of shadowing, and you will work alongside an experienced colleague. We strive, as far as possible, to have an individualized schedule, which we see as an advantage for both the individual and the operations. We are constantly working to develop the operations and have active union representatives for nurses.
The tasks include, for example, administering medications such as cytostatics and antibodies in central or peripheral lines. Together with the responsible physician, you handle acute situations, usually caused by acute drug reactions. We train for acute situations in teams together with Practicum. As a nurse, you also handle some telephone counseling where you follow up on side effects, symptom relief, and inform about self-care. Part of the work involves planning and booking the patient's treatment, including doctor visits and evaluations via radiology. All of this is done in close collaboration with the team around the patient, which may consist of nurses, doctors, nursing assistants, contact nurses, and medical secretaries.
Together with the patient and their relatives, you have significant responsibility for the patient's treatment, where you inform and educate the patient and relatives about the diagnosis, side effects, and lifestyle habits. You are involved in long-term planning and establish contact with other healthcare providers when necessary, such as dietitians and physiotherapists. Our unit also has a large PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) service, one of the largest in the country, where nurses trained in PICC insertion ensure that patients receive their treatments via a safe central line. We regularly train new PICC nurses, and the work as a PICC nurse with us is independent, exciting, and responsible.
QUALIFICATIONS
Do you like to take responsibility and make your own decisions while valuing teamwork? Then we believe you have good prerequisites for thriving here. Through your commitment and positive attitude, you create a good work climate together with your colleagues, where we all help each other to achieve the best care quality for our patients. Furthermore, you have high readiness for action, very good interpersonal skills, and can adjust your planning based on the situation. Personal suitability is given great importance.
Regarding formal requirements, you must be a licensed nurse with permission to work within Swedish healthcare. Proficiency in Swedish at least equivalent to level C1 according to the Council of Europe's scale is a requirement. Specialist education in oncology is meritorious. We would appreciate it if you have worked with patients in cancer care. It is also meritorious if you have knowledge of the systems Melior, Pasis, and/or Aria.
