We are now looking for an engaged social worker to join our school social team – a close collaboration between the school and social services, focusing on strengthening students' opportunities to succeed in school and in life.

The school social team works to:

• Increase student attendance in school
• Create a safe and study-focused school environment
• Strengthen students' protective factors and break negative development patterns

A functioning school attendance is one of the most important protective factors in a child's life. Completing compulsory school increases opportunities for further studies, work, good health, and a good life. At the same time, long-term absence can have serious consequences – both in the short and long term. Here, you will become a key person working both operationally and in developing the school social team.

Job Responsibilities

As a social worker in the school social team, you work closely with students, guardians, and school staff in a cross-professional context. Your work includes both preventive and remedial measures.

You will, among other things:

• Build relationships and trust with students
• Support students with initial and problematic school absenteeism
• Provide support to guardians
• Contribute to collaboration between schools, social services, and other actors (e.g., healthcare and leisure activities)
• Document and follow up on interventions

You are placed in a school environment and collaborate closely with the central student welfare team. You will receive continuous supervision from the senior social secretary within IFO (Individual and Family Care).

The work is led overall by a steering group consisting of the head of the central student welfare team and the head of the social administration. The project is expected to last for three years, subject to the receipt of required state grants.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

• Has a degree in social work or other relevant higher education (minimum 180 credits)
• Has good knowledge of the mission and legislation of individual and family care
• Has knowledge of the school's mission and governing documents, especially the Education Act and the role of student welfare
• Has an understanding of the school's compensatory mission and the importance of attendance for learning and goal achievement
• Has specific training in conversation methodology
• Has experience working with children and young people (meritorious)
• Has good ability to document and write reports
