Description
At Gustaviskolan, we are now looking for a driven and development-oriented lead teacher.
Gustaviskolan is a small, single-grade F-5 school with approximately 150 students. We are Gothenburg's most centrally located municipal school and the only one situated within the city moat. We are housed in a stately and beautiful school building with the educator as our closest neighbor. We are currently renovating our school, gaining access to new facilities and a renovated campus, including both indoor spaces and the schoolyard. It is a school that is being invested in!
At Gustaviskolan, a small, close-knit team works together with great job satisfaction. We are constantly developing together and share a strong collective responsibility for the entirety of our operations and workplace.
Job Responsibilities
In the role of lead teacher, your primary focus will be on teaching. In addition, you will work on school development tasks identified in the school's systematic quality work. The core of this systematic quality work is student learning and goal achievement. Therefore, the work as a lead teacher is primarily aimed at developing teaching together with other teachers at the school to enhance student learning.
Based on the areas identified in the school's systematic quality work, you will collaborate with the school's teachers and management team. In collegial learning, you play a central and important role by mentoring and coaching, as well as by contributing knowledge about research and proven experience.
An important task for a lead teacher is supervising student teachers and mentoring newly graduated teachers, with the aim of contributing to a good introduction to the teaching profession.
A more detailed assignment will be formulated in consultation between the lead teacher and the nearest manager at the school. This should include the conditions and content of the assignment, as well as the timing for review and potential revision.
Qualifications
For the position of lead teacher, we are looking for you who:
- are a certified teacher with the qualification to teach grades 1-3
- have shown a particularly good ability to improve students' academic results and have a strong interest in developing teaching.
- are assessed by the principal as particularly qualified for teaching and tasks related to teaching.
- are a teacher with four years of certified teaching experience.
- can document through records at least four years of well-recognized work within the school system.
- have a good ability to drive school development based on the school's systematic quality work.
- have a developed analytical ability.
- have the ability to be a driving force in a collaborative culture.
- have a good ability to lead others in collegial learning at both local and overarching levels.
To succeed in your assignment, it is important that you have a good ability to create conditions for learning to take place, both among students and colleagues. You have the ability to explain problems and information to different recipients and from different perspectives. You encourage dialogue, participation, and engagement.
You keep yourself updated through environmental scanning and regularly reflect on what needs to be developed in your operations. You can overview your own area of responsibility and place your own operations' significance in a larger context.
You can effectively identify and analyze the core of a problem and propose possible solutions. You have the ability to see connections and draw logical conclusions from limited and/or complex information.
We warmly welcome your application!
The position is filled subject to the condition that it is not taken by already permanent staff.
