Högskolan Väst is seeking a University Lecturer in Informatics with a focus on AI in Business!

The Department of Economics and IT is now welcoming new colleagues to an environment where new programs, courses, research, and academic contexts are being developed. The department consists of three growing research and education clusters within the social sciences: Politics and Society, Economics, and Informatics and Media. These clusters are under construction, and new employees will have excellent opportunities to shape the content of the clusters and leave their mark on these academic environments. Responsibilities:

The duties primarily consist of research and teaching at the undergraduate and advanced levels. Teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English. If you lack Swedish language skills at the time of employment, you are expected to develop them over time. You will primarily research and teach within informatics with a focus on AI in business, in close relation to the AI Management educational program launching in Spring 2027. This involves teaching and research on how artificial intelligence develops, is implemented, used, and has organizational and societal consequences in various business contexts. The education starts from informatics as a field and subject and highlights central sociotechnical themes such as the interaction between humans and AI systems, AI-driven business development, digital transformation, leadership and organization, design and visualization, as well as ethical and sustainability issues related to AI.

Teaching includes courses within information systems, AI management, human-AI interaction, organizational strategies for AI, as well as research methodology and thesis supervision. The role also involves contributing to the program's work-integrated learning components.

As a University Lecturer in Informatics with a focus on AI in business, you are an active researcher and are expected, based on your competence and qualifications, to contribute to the academic environment building, primarily in the Informatics and Media cluster. In terms of research, this is done, for example, through research applications, publications in international journals, mentoring junior researchers, and seminar activities. In terms of education, in addition to teaching and associated tasks, you are also expected, based on competence and experience, to take on pedagogical leadership to develop courses, programs, and teaching teams.

There are good opportunities to find roles and assignments at the department, institution, and university levels, with the possibility of contributing to management, quality, and development work to create the prerequisites for high-quality research-based education and education-based research. The department offers an open and collaborative environment with strong links to business, the public sector, and international research networks.

In addition to teaching and research, administrative tasks are also included.

Qualification requirements for the position of University Lecturer:

• Documented pedagogical skill (Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Act). Applicants who lack pedagogical merits from an academic environment must have competence equivalent to the university's qualification requirements, although this may have been acquired in a manner other than within the academic environment.
• Completed university pedagogical education of at least ten weeks or equivalent competence. If university pedagogical education is missing, employment may still take place provided that the employee completes the education during the first two years of employment.
• A completed PhD in Informatics, or another related subject that the employer considers relevant, or equivalent scientific competence or other professional skill that is significant with regard to the subject content of the employment and the duties to be included in the employment (Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Act).

For this position, the following is also required:

• Documented ability to conduct high-quality teaching, primarily within informatics.
• Documented ability to participate in or build an academic environment through, for example, obtained external funding, publications in international journals, and building research environments in general. Assessment of skill is placed in relation to the level of merit and time elapsed since the doctoral degree.
• Documented or demonstrated ability to participate in or build an academic environment through pedagogical leadership, such as development work at the course or program level, leading teaching teams, and similar groups. Assessment of skill is placed in relation to the level of merit and time elapsed since the doctoral degree.
• Documented ability to express oneself well in English, both orally and in writing.
• Documented collaboration skills with both colleagues and students and other parties.
