University Lecturer in Informatics with a focus on Media Production and AI at University West!

The Department of Economics and IT is now welcoming new colleagues to an environment where new programs, courses, research, and academic contexts are being established. The department consists of three growing research and education clusters within the social sciences: Politics and Society, Economics, and Informatics and Media. These clusters are under construction, and new employees will have excellent opportunities to shape the content of the clusters and leave their mark on these academic environments. This position is organizationally placed at the Department of Media and Design.

Within the Informatics and Media cluster, research and education are conducted on the significance of digitalization for work, organization, and society. The research is grounded in information systems and design and is characterized by a socio-technical and work-integrated learning perspective, where the relationship between technology, practice, and learning is central. Currently, seven educational programs are linked to the Informatics and Media cluster: four bachelor's programs, one master's program, one master's degree program, and a two-year distance learning program leading to a university diploma. Responsibilities:

The responsibilities consist primarily of research and teaching at the undergraduate, advanced, and doctoral levels. Teaching is conducted in Swedish and English. If you do not speak Swedish at the time of employment, you are expected to acquire Swedish language skills over time. You will primarily conduct research and teach within media production, focusing on 3D animation and visualization, as well as the impact of AI on this field. Other teaching and research may also become relevant. If you have a deepened interest in areas such as sustainability, digitalization, or work-integrated learning, there are opportunities to participate in broader department-wide contexts.

As a University Lecturer in Informatics with a focus on media production and AI, you are an active researcher and are expected, based on your competence and merits, to contribute to the academic environment building, primarily within the Informatics and Media cluster. In terms of research, this is done, for example, through research applications, publications in international journals, mentoring junior researchers, and seminar activities. In terms of education, in addition to teaching and associated tasks, you are also expected, based on competence and experience, to take on pedagogical leadership to develop courses, programs, and teaching teams.

There are good opportunities to find roles and assignments at the department, faculty, and university levels, with the possibility of contributing to management, quality, and development work to create conditions for high-quality research-based education and education-based research. The department offers an open and collaborative environment with strong connections to business, the public sector, and international research networks.

In addition to teaching and research, administrative tasks are also included.

Qualification requirements for the position of University Lecturer:

• Documented pedagogical skill (Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Act). Applicants who lack pedagogical merits from an academic environment must have competence equivalent to the university's qualification requirements, although this may have been achieved in a manner other than within an academic environment.
• Completed higher education pedagogical education of at least ten weeks or equivalent competence. If higher education pedagogical education is lacking, employment may still take place provided that the employee completes the education during the first two years of employment.
• A doctoral degree in Informatics, or another related subject that the employer deems relevant, or equivalent scientific competence or other professional skill that is significant in view of the subject content of the employment and the tasks to be included in the employment (Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Act).

For this position, the following is also required:

• Documented ability to conduct high-quality teaching, primarily within Informatics with a focus on media production and AI.
• Documented ability to participate in or build an academic environment through, for example, obtained external funding, publications in international journals, and building research environments in general. Assessment of skill is placed in relation to the level of merit and time elapsed since the doctoral degree.
• Documented or demonstrated ability to participate in or build an academic environment through pedagogical leadership, such as, for example, development work at the course or program level, leading teaching teams, and similar groups. Assessment of skill is placed in relation to the level of merit and time elapsed since the doctoral degree.
• Documented ability to express oneself well in English, both orally and in writing.
• Documented ability to collaborate with both colleagues and students and other parties.

The employment is permanent. A six-month probationary period applies.
