Högskolan Väst is looking for a University Lecturer in Economics with a focus on Accounting and Finance!

The Department of Economics and IT now welcomes new employees to an environment where new programs, courses, research, and academic contexts are being developed. The department consists of three growing research and education clusters within the social sciences: Politics and Society, Economics, and Informatics and Media. The clusters are under construction, and new employees will have excellent opportunities to shape the content of the clusters and leave their mark on these academic environments. This position is organizationally placed within the Division of Business and National Economics.

The Economics Cluster conducts research and education in business and national economics. Research and education are also conducted within the area of Work-Integrated Learning (WIL). Currently, two education programs are linked to the cluster: the campus-based Economics program and the online Master's program in Leadership. The department also offers a Master's program in Work-Integrated Learning with a focus on leadership in digitalized organizations, sustainability, and political studies. Job Responsibilities:

The responsibilities consist primarily of research and teaching at undergraduate and advanced levels. Teaching is conducted in both Swedish and English. You will primarily conduct research and teach within accounting (internal and external) and finance to strengthen the academic environment, particularly regarding the division's educational programs. Other research and teaching may also become relevant. If you have a deepened interest in, for example, sustainability, AI, digitalization, or work-integrated learning, there are opportunities to participate in a broader department-wide context.

As a University Lecturer with a focus on accounting and finance, you are an active researcher and are expected, based on competence and merits, to contribute to the academic environment building, primarily in the economics cluster. In terms of research, this occurs, for example, through research applications, publications in international journals, mentoring junior researchers, and seminar activities. In terms of education, in addition to teaching and associated tasks, you are also expected, based on competence and experience, to take on pedagogical leadership to develop courses, programs, and teaching teams.

There are good opportunities to find roles and assignments at the division, department, and university levels with the possibility to contribute to management, quality, and development work to create conditions for high-quality research-based education and education-based research. The department offers an open and collaborative environment with strong links to business, the public sector, and international research networks.

In addition to teaching and research, administrative tasks are also included.

Qualification Requirements for Appointment as University Lecturer:

  • Documented pedagogical skill (Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Act). Applicants lacking pedagogical merits from an academic environment must have competence equivalent to the university's qualification requirements, though this may have been acquired in a manner other than within an academic environment.
  • Completed higher education pedagogy training of at least ten weeks or equivalent competence. If higher education pedagogy training is lacking, employment may still take place provided that the employee completes the training during the first two years of employment.
  • A completed doctoral degree in business or national economics, or another related subject that the employer deems relevant, or equivalent scientific competence, or any other professional skill that is significant with regard to the subject content of the position and the duties to be included in the position (Chapter 4, Section 4 of the Higher Education Act).

For this position, the following are also required:

  • Documented ability to conduct high-quality teaching, primarily within accounting (internal and external) and finance.
  • Documented ability to participate in or build an academic environment through, for example, obtained external funding, publications in international journals, and building research environments in general. Assessment of skill is set in relation to merit level and time elapsed since the doctorate.
  • Documented or demonstrated ability to participate in or build an academic environment through pedagogical leadership, such as development work at the course or program level and leading teaching teams and similar groups. Assessment of skill is set in relation to merit level and time elapsed since the doctorate.
  • Documented ability to express oneself well in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing.
  • Documented ability to collaborate with colleagues, students, and other parties.

Your most important characteristics are that you are responsible, engaged, curious, receptive, pragmatic, and capable of constructive critical analysis, both in the organization and in teaching and research. We place great importance on your contribution to a good working environment at the division, cluster, and department levels.

Other:

The position is a permanent appointment. A six-month probationary period applies.
